i fidgit, so when im writing, or just having a conversation on the computer it helps me to have something to occupy myself during down times between ideas, or replies.
usually i fill this with pistachios, but i also really love (though i have a hard time getting) brach's milk maid carmels.
how about you guys, anything similar?
When I'm writing it's either a pot of black coffee or vodka on the rocks. I guess I don't eat much.
coffee or alcohol or cigarettes or all three
screw moderation
Coffee, jelly sweets, and cheesy Doritos for the win.
Beef Jerky
Peace Coffee
and when I'm feeling particularly self-abusive: cookie dough (but that sometimes makes the keyboard sticky, so I use a spoon)
Writers have such great diets don't they?
of course.. but inbetween posts/ideas while sitting at the computer chuck?
Bar food, and whiskey. After two glasses I doodle or jot down notes. In front of my computer: broccoli and ceaser dressing or jalapeno potato chips.
@chuck: yesh those home cooked meals are the best.
Ugh this thread is making me hungry..
Power coffee, cigarettes, Goldfish crackers.
Black coffee and ginger snaps. Now the cookie dough and beef jerky mentioned earlier, Those used to be big ones for me -especially the jerky, except those snacks put some serious miles on my waist size. Hence, why we can't play together anymore.
Ever since I went for an exploratory trip to the Asian grocer, I have a really weird and unending hunger for dried seaweed.
I've had to limit myself in case I overdose on salt - I don't know what kind of MSG magic is in some of those seaweed packets, but it's good.
Mini-Pretzels. Easy to eat, not too messy and, I have found that the recommended serving size of "19 pretzels" is actually enough to do the job so long as you don't stuff them in your face by the handful.
Iced toddy coffee and Goldfish!
Coffee is wonderful, tea if available in the late afternoon. Munchies end up all of the keyboard and, well, that's gross.
Peace,
Rue
Espresso and cigarettes(Unless I'm quitting).
Coffee and cigarettes club here.
Goldfish crackers and much, much tea.
Sriracha spicy peas
When I sit down, I hardly remember to eat or drink. I find it can be a distraction. I tend to forget to take care of myself when my mind gets worked into a frenzy.
If I do eat, it is anywhere from tea or beer or rum & coke with pretzel chips, Mike & Ikes or cocoa roasted almonds. Or I'll plough through from one meal to the next.
coffee/tea, cheetos puffs, red wine. Jelly beans sometimes, and definitely ice cream (it's a travesty that we don't get Phish Food up here in Canada...) I basically live on my computer when I'm not asleep so eating tend to occur at or near my computer.
Another coffee or alcohol person. I don't eat in the study; my wife and I have forbidden food from it, in fact. If I smoke when contemplating a problem with a text I am working on then I step outside.
A red cup filled with Planters peanuts and a cold glass of water. Sounds weird though it delightfully satisfies me while writing on long nights or when hunger overrides my mind.
At the moment, coffee and cool ranch doritos.
You also can't beat those ranch flavored sunflower seeds.
Good stuff.
BUMP!
Slim Jims, Wild Turkey.
Not the healthiest diet but I do this combination when I'm writing.
When I have company over they are often shocked "no snacks?"
Yes.
No chips, no dip, no meat substitute abominations, no vegetable platters, no nuts, no pretzels, no candy, candy makes me sick.
Sometimes, on occassion, I will eat an apple.
But snacks are for the undisciplined. I just smoke weed and refuse to accept the munchies unless it is an appropriate and duly designated meal time.
It used to be a cup of coffee, sometimes with a shot of Bailey's swirled in if I knew I'd be left alone for a few hours. Because my doctor has demanded I eat more nuts, I have a huge container by my desk overflowing with raw mixed nuts, some salted and some not--I combined two containers.
I can't eat big meals when writing. I get so into writing that I forget to chew my food properly. :( I'd rather write before meals, anyway, because a full tummy makes me sleepy and all I want to do is beach myself on the bed with netflix and tea.
So, coffee and nuts it is.
Side note: my coffee of choice is Philz. I didn't know coffee could taste good without cream and sugar until a coworker introduced me to Philz. I buy a bag of beans from them every two weeks. Amazing stuff.
Everlasting gobstoppers!
Bump.
They finally started selling Bugles in Canada again. Thank fuck. Now I just need me some Cap'n Crunch with the red berries, some Fruity Pebbles and something else deemed "TOO MUCH DYE" by my lovely government.
At least we have ketchup chips here. Y'all are missing out.
Green Tea with pomegranate and a pack of Marlboros.
I must admit that my snack of choice is....I am a bit ashamed to say is......Assroted Jelly Beans.
Now you all know.
I can't believe I killed this thread with gobstoppers and didn't even realize it.
Mornings (by which I mean after 1 or 2 pm) I take coffee.
Afternoons, Dr Pepper and Flamin Hot Cheetos.
Nights...beer if I'm not working and whatever I can scrounge

Dude. Shit yeah.
I've been making my own trail-mixes the last few months and it's a great way to go. Nuts.com has a pretty awesome selection of nuts and fruits so you can make all sorts of cool concoctions.
@Kirk, I love me some trail mix, I will be checking that out. Good call.
Nom nom. I love nuts and not even in the dirty way. I've always got like a least ten different kinds because I make my own milk from them. Because milking nuts is great for making smoothies and sometimes it's just great on its own or with a bit of chocolate. My favorite nut milk comes from pecans because they look like little vaginas and taste wonderful with dates and are so good for you. Thanks for the resource Kirk. I will try nuts.com.
Anybody eat those Snyders of Hanover pretzel bits? My favourite is the cheesy ones.
Snyders has these amazing things...two pretzels that they fill with peanut butter (like a sandwich) which is then dipped in chocolate. My life both began and ended the day I found those.
Cheez-Its but I'm trying cut back. Screw it, no I'm not. Drink wise, I generally have three types of whiskey sitting at home, but if it's a sober day, Diet Coke. And yes, that stuff is just as addicting as the scotch.
Girl scout cookies and gummy bears.
tea. Real tea, not from a can or crap like that, loose leaf sort, and crumbly cookies or pastry.
