Lidia's got half of facebook showing their bras as a promotion for her new book, I thought it would be of interest (for several reasons, ha!) and then we could utilize this thread to talk about the book once we've all had a chance to read it.
Check out the official facebook page: Dora: A Headcase
If you are friends with her on facebook all the photos are there, too. I've reposted a ton (and added my own) and blogged about it. Join in the fun!
You showed your bra?
I feel kind of bad. I was giving her grief for making my facebook feed NSFW and all the pictures stopped.
Such a great project she's doing though.
I'm motorboating my facebook newsfeed all over the place today and it is awesome.
So I've seen all the pics, but like... why? At this point I still haven't seen a single explanation of what this has to do with the book.
Michael, watch the book trailer.
You will gain no deeper knowledge of this bra thing but when things this magical happens, why question it?
I guess I must have missed it, I looked around a little and didn't find anything. Might just be my Facebook ineptitude.
Sounds... interesting. But yeah, boobs do grab the attention.
Shit, I didn't even know Dora was out yet. I'm excited. I love Lidia.
Amazon is my favorite place (no little book stores out here in the sticks). But I'm making myself wait until after the Clevenger class before I buy the book. I can't hardly wait.
Powell's in Portland FTMFW.
Drea speaks the truth.
I just got a shipment from Powell's (gift card -- thanks sis!) I have to say, even coming from Portland (I'm assuming they don't have a distribution center somewhere closer to the east coast) it was just as fast as Amazon, even the used books were in great shape, and they give you free economy shipping (on $50+ rather than Amazon's $25+) Recommended.
Support your local indies people (when you have access to an indie, of course). Here's my economic spiel (though this doesn't really apply to JY because the purchase wasn't local, but I still think it's better to support indie's like Powell's):
This info comes from Indiebound.org:
The Economy
- Spend $100 at a local and $68 of that stays in your community. Spend the same $100 at a national chain, and your community only sees $43. [Buy from Amazon, none of your money stays local, unless you're paying sales tax, of course.]
- Local businesses create higher-paying jobs for our neighbors.
- More of your taxes are reinvested in your community--where they belong.
The Environment
- Buying local means less packaging, less transportation, and a smaller carbon footprint.
- Shopping in a local business district means less infrastructure, less maintenance, and more money to beautify your community.
The Community
- Local retailers are your friends and neighbors—support them and they’ll support you.
- Local businesses donate to charities at more than twice the rate of national chains.
- More independents means more choice, more diversity, and a truly unique community.
