Being a huge Dexter fan I feel the need to weed out others here.

Season 6 has begun and we're two episodes in. So what does everyone think of it so far?

Personally I'm loving it. I feel like this season is much more intense than previous. Dexter seems a lot more violent when it comes to his victims, and overall it feels like they took things up a notch. When I first saw the previews, I wasn't too sure about religion being the central theme of the season, but after watching the last two episodes I'm loving it. Edward James Olmos as the antagonist is amazing, apparently he can not only command a Battlestar, but pull off creepy religious fanatic pretty well. I don't want to give away spoilers if anyone hasn't caught up yet or is planning on watching, so I'll stop myself there.

Just like Season 4 made up for how underwhelming Season 3 was, I think, so far, Season 6 makes up for Season 5.

I agree.  Season 6 seems to be picking up the slack that was season 5.

I especially like what's going on with Deb right now.

Willing to see how it goes, but so far I haven't really enjoyed this season. The first episode seemed too wacky, and the villains' dialogue was too cheesy to be enjoyable for me. Although the parallels they're setting up with Colin Hanks' character and Dexter looks promising.

Also glad someone's calling LaGuerta on her shit.

I'm just glad Lumen is gone and baby voice Rita.  Dexter is better single or getting bjs from random women.  The first episode was kinda goofy for Dexter, not the right tone but the second was better.  I like Colin Hanks as an actor.  Nothing can ever really beat the John Lithgow season though.  I loved when Dexter was Kyle Butler and almost had three personas in one.  I like where things are going with Deb but I would like for her to find out about Dexter one day.

I had started season 5 with friends. We had fajita nights when season 4 episodes aired. When we started season 5...the fajita nights ended. Then we just had whatever we felt like eating and watched red letter media reviews and other things on the internet.

I am glad to read that it is catching back to former glory. I think it is time to seek these episodes out.

Also, as much as I love Dexter, I miss Doakes (though he would have been exhausting if he had stayed alive). I loved Trinity. I think that is all for my random comments.

Season five was just there. It floated out there, it existed, just like season two, but not much more can be said about it. "Dexter had a fifth season," is the summary.

What I miss is intelligent, calculating Dexter. He went through a lot of crap and had an excuse to be sloppy and risky, but hopefully that's behind him now. Hopefully he goes back to being cunning and not just a murder factory.
