People get angry and offended at anything. There are definitely mythological purists out there. I've made up my mind that I'm not going to worry about it.

That's your best bet and it's great that you came to that conclusion because it'll free you up to write the story you want to tell, which I still hold is the first thing to consider when writing.

@Arwen - if you love Greek mythology, check out Matt Garica's new online press "Pantheon" - http://pantheonmag.com. He posts on here as Sound.
@Phil - Nabokov would approve, in an Ada or Ardor kind of way.

@Arwen - If you really want to, go for it. But don't feel obligated to follow an idea, just because it will upset folks. Good art often ruffles some feathers, but it isn't under any obligation too do so. Explore the other options like a whole new mythos, reskinning the mythos with different names, and scrapping the whole project/that part of the project. It is your work, so do something that feels genuine to you.

To be honest, I do get a little offended by all these real life people trying to write fiction. Like they know anything about being fictive. Fiction should be written by us fiction characters. White people, first they ruined rap, now they got to ruin novels too.

@Dwayne: I'm not usually the "make a statement" type. I think I'll just do it and get it checked over. Then again, it's in draft.

@Arwin - Not implying you are, but people often get afraid to back down because it feels cowardly. Feelings aren't the truth though, so it seemed like it bared saying.
