This may have been a topic before, but I don't see it, and figure others can benefit from it too.
How do I write a cover letter?
I'm sure there are a zillion websites telling me how, but I'd rather you guys point me to one, or give me your own explanation/example, basically 'cause I trust you guys more than anyone else on the web (and I've only been on here a day!) And I'm sure my writer Facebook friends are sick of my bugging them with every little Newb question.
Okay, enough ass-kissing. I'd like some tips.
i thought this was locked down, maybe that's why there were no responses. i wrote a column on cover letters. in fact, if you have some questions on writing in general, i touch on a lot of that stuff in my column. here's the one on cover letters, but i also talk about finding your voice, and the journey one of my stories took. i have a new on all about Duotrope that will be up real soon
Wow...I think it was locked down too, seeing as I just saw your response, and before couldn't see my post at all. How does a post come to be locked down??? Strange--now I feel like a real newb.
Richard, I actually found your column after posting this, and it's great. My first submission was to an adolescent-focused with exacting formatting standards, so I tweaked it a bit, but did mostly the same thing.
Locked down...hmmm...better go read up on Threadiquette.
And yeah, Duotrope's overwhelming me a bit at the moment. Will go look around for that column, if it's out.
^cool, good luck. pm me if you need help, it can be a bit daunting at times.
