Hi, I'm Derdriu (pronounced DEER-drah) and I go by Dee. I don't remember how I stumbled upon the site, but I've been lurking for awhile and decided to finally register a free account. Hoping to upgrade when finances permit (guess I should get the minions to rob some banks for me.) Derdriu was my first character I created on the game City of Heroes. She was a villain. I like to use her name as a screenname these days to keep those fun times alive. I lean towards villainy because where's the fun without it?
Maleficent is my favorite Disney villain. Not sure how I feel about the upcoming movie.
I'm currently reading "A Clash of Kings" by GRRM. Grew up on fantasy and sci-fi as well as detective novels. Pretty much have stuck to those worlds even to this day. Same goes for television.
I tend to have some A.D.D. when reading, so I'll switch between books depending on what I'm feeling. I'm slowly getting through Lovecraft's works. I also have a few historical interests, as I love period writing and enjoy reading about the real deal as well (like the Renaissance, etc.) I'm interested in the 'punk' genres as well, but have not gotten a chance to really delve into them. I plan on changing that. I'm also a big mythology fan and am slowly expanding my knowledge base there.
But seriously, I'm looking forward to weaving my tentacles into this place. Hope you don't mind. ^^
Welcome to the LitReactor, Dee!
I am a huge fan of the Mythos, whether by ole H.P Hovercraft himself, or the Mythos-esque stuff from Stephen King, Laird Barron, Cody Goodfellow, or even Brian Lumley, who's got to be the most god-awful writer I enjoy reading.
Welcome!
A grand welcome to you!
I have to admit, when I was a kid, Maleficent had a particular spot in my mind when it came to villians. Way better than Cinderella's stepmother or that fat octopus lady... You have good taste.
Cruella De Ville was the worst, she could have been real!
Yeah, but you don't meet people like that. A thin woman obsessed with dog hate and fur coats? She could live across town.
^
I know a few divorced guys who would disagree with you...
That doesn't make them right.
