Hello, I'm Kellie! I just got back to the states, been living in Japan for the past ten years! I bake cakes and love rabbits and a friend of mine put me up to this because I am an aspiring writer. Gotta get back to work, so I'll talk to everyone later! Ja ne!

Rabbit cakes? Is it a gamey taste?

Hello, Kellie

Nice to meet ya. Dive into the threads, don't be shy, and keep your rabbits away from Otis. Welcome to the lit.

Hi Kellie! I studied Japanese for four years and have a degree in it but, embarrassingly, have never been. I got waitlisted for JET two years ago. Where did you live? I just wrote a story set in Toyama that I'm thinking about workshopping, so if I do you must check it out and let me know how I did.

Did you have to make cake in your rice cooker or did you have a proper oven?

I affix -chan to all my pets' names. Kawaii

I studied Japanese for four years in high school (and two years of French as well). Studied Chinese in college for four years too. I was "made" in Japan, but born and raised in Oregon. I have this obsession with maybe opening up a sushi restaurant someday, and came close to doing it. I worked as a waitress at a sushi restaurant for five months and basically worked for sushi. Those were the days! In case you haven't noticed, I'm infamously well-known for my randomness!

Welcome!

P.S. Don't worry about me having a crush on you, because I am completely devoted to my "ichiban" who also speaks Japanese. She says that my Japanese sucks.

Wow, thanks for all the responses y'all!

@OtisTheBulldog  Carrot cake is what I'm talkin' bout!

@Jonathan, Dave, and Jeffrey, thanks for making me feel welcome!

@La Emme Nikita You should definitely go visit when you have a chance. I would totally love to check out your story set in Toyama, too.

I had a convection oven when I lived in Japan, kind of small compared to American ovens, but I was still able to bake!

@averydoll I'm from the East coast originally, but currently living in Portland, Oregon.

@RoaringJen You should totally open your own sushi restaurant! I also worked at a sushi restaurant in NY called Haru- I loved that place.

Maybe we can speak in Japanese sometime so you can practice : )

Kellie! I'm going to NYC this New Year's Eve! Will check out the place near Times Square. There's only one Haru, right?

@RoaringJen That's awesome!! There is actually more than one Haru. The one I worked at is on Park and Madison, but there are a few others. The one near Times Square is nice too. Really good lunch specials!

@Dwayne Thanks for the welcome!
