EPIVISION: VOL.1

Three billion light years from Earth, a rogue angel vends his guardian services in the afterlife; an illegal gamble for Bright Olsson. One which takes him to Sector HK-909 – a replica of Earth’s Hong Kong – with the mission to earn enough sullo and begin a new life on the planet Coalesce.

What he wasn’t expecting to find in the process was a soulmate.

Kaye Riley, an agent for the Investigation of Criminality on Angelo, will go above and beyond to arrest an angel. Partnered with agent Katsuhiro Miike – a man labelled a snitch, and potentially a hindrance to her unorthodox methods – she arrives in HK-909 on crusade to bring Olsson to justice; her career and personal vendetta rests on it.

The hunt is on in a world of hawkers and neon.

Epivision: Vol.1 is an urban fantasy thriller. It’s the second book in the Domino Galaxy series, though you don’t need to read the first prior to reading the second. I wrote Book 1 as a standalone novel, which is aimed more at children, whereas Book 2 is for teens and adults.

For a limited time it’s free on Smashwords here. Simply input the code ‘GE89K’ at the checkout. Ends October 4, 2013.

If you've made it this far, well done. Randomness to follow.

- How long did it take you to write this book then?
- Around 2 yrs.
- Bit slow, innit?
- Perfection takes time, my friend.
- Why you givin' it away for free if it's so damn good?
- Because I'm trying to reach out to readers. Build a readership.
- Not because it's a bit shit?
- No. No I've put my heart and soul into this book. And I hope to continue with the series.
- What's so good about it?
- I like to think it's original. I don't believe there're that many novels set in an afterlife. It's a new take on the angel genre. They have no wings, no halos; these angels have nothing to do with religion. Also, the story keeps moving at a good pace. The characters are well rounded... Look I hate praising my own work.
- Fair enough. What inspired you to write it in the first place?
- I love stories. Sci-Fi and Fantasy have been a part of my life since childhood. I wanted to see what I'm capable of writing. Though I'm more of a film buff than a reader to be honest.
- What's your favourite film?
- Blade Runner.
- Second?
- Probably Aliens. No T2.
- James Cameron fan then?
- Yes.
- If you love films so much why don't you write one then?
- Because that's a whole other ball game. Plus I'm still learning as a writer. Maybe one day I will be involved in a film. For now I'm happy to write novels and see where it takes me.
- Fair enough. Oh, I have another question about your book. Is there any sex in it?
- No. But there's some romance.
- You really should have put some sex in it. That's what sells these days.
- The book doesn't require sex. Maybe in later titles there will be some.
- Any violence?
- A little.
- What happens?
- A guy has his arm... You'll have to read it.
- Not sure I can be bothered to be honest. Afterall, you're an indie author.
- Thanks. Love you too.
- No, but I mean it's probably broken: typos, bad grammar, that kind of thing.
- I've had it professionally edited.
- OoooooOoooo get you. So, okay, maybe I'll think about reading it. But what's really gonna sell it to me? C'mon. Really sell it to me.
- (sighs) If you were an angel for hire, and in need of money, but you knew you wouldn't be able to protect your clients, would you do it anyway? That's the question the protagonist asks himself. It's a roller coaster of emotions for him. A journey into the unknown. A search for happiness.
- Alright, bit deep.
- Like I said before, I hate to big-up my own work. Just give a try. If you don't like it, stop reading. Simple.
- Maybe I will. Maybe I won't.
- Good. Are you done?
- Maybe.
- We're done.

Best,
Matthew
