If sticking up for people who are being mistreated or talked down to or offended is wrong and not allowed here, so be it. If respecting women is wrong here, so be it. this is why I hate message boards...
@R Moon - I wasn't talking only about that. I was more responding to strange photon about the "are you threatening me?" comment he left. And as far as sticking up for anyone or not, who fucking cares, right? Don't rock the boat, right?
i understand it's the age of A.D.D. and all, but this thread is only 4 pages long, and the first half has nothing to do with the current situation. Can people just read back before posting?
I asked strange photon why he thought it was ok to make jokes about fucking averydoll. are ya with me so far? I stayed respectful and polite. The reason I asked him that? Because he was obviously making someone uncomfortable.
here is a real question for EVERYONE here: why is everyone so ready to fight all the time? is it because there are no consequences, since we aren't in the same room or even city or state? is it because we can say anything we want on the internet with little to no backlash? is everyone this argumentative in public amongst the general public?
It worries me that when someone says something on this board that goes against the groupthink, they get villified and attacked from all sides. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and as long as they don't hurt someone else they are all equally important. I disagree with LOTS of people here on what is good writing or good stories or good approaches, but I respect those opinions and think that's how the world goes 'round. If I do bring something up, it is to engage in conversation, not to tell someone they are wrong for thinking differently than me.
I've learned elsewhere (a certain web zine that doesn't like opinions contrary to their groupthink, even when they ask for them) that it's not good to rock the boat when it comes to writing. Why is that? Why so sensitive? Isn't "transgressive" supposed to be all about differing viewpoints and lifestyles and all that?

Seriously, it's been getting bad. There are constant team-ups against the silliest little things.
When I first joined here, there was a What are you doing for 4th of July thread, and I made a joke about American consumerism, pretending I was going to Wal-Mart to buy a bunch of 4th of July type things that are made in foreign countries. It was funny, to me anyway. I got jumped on, to the point where I felt bad and apologized and said I was just joking. I thought to myself "wow, I kinda figured 'writers' would be open minded, and maybe disagree, but not jump on me so badly. is this writing, or is this a sports bar?"
It makes no sense to me why people are all so threatened by ideas different from their own. Makes me think maybe they don't really hold these ideas, and feel the need to attack because they don't really know what they think. Which is completely acceptable in itself, seeing as how none of us has reached enlightenment. I just wish everyone could get along better and stop the attacks...we need new people in here, and quite often the groupthink is scaring away the newbies. That, and the gang-tackles.

Sean:
A - I make jokes about everyone, and if I don't include the women, someone will undoubtedly cry sexism.
B - If she was uncomfortable, she should have said something to me and I would have swiftly stopped since, after all, it was a JOKE.
C - You were the one that got all agro and attempted to threaten me. I didn't even get that it was a threat, which is why I said I had no clue what you were talking about, then you clarified, sort of, then I asked if that was some sort of threat, to which you responded that I would do the same if I were in your shoes - which I wouldn't because I would've had the comprehension to know it was all a joke to begin with.
D - Not everything is without consequence, especially when there is an open invitation for people to meet up in the near future.
Z - Where were you when the groupthink was against me and my issues with censorship? Was it inconvenient, or was it just because I'm not your girlfriend? (that is in no way meant as an invitation to become your girlfriend)
And to the rest of you:
A-Z - I like the digression the threads make all the time, keeps me entertained. After all, isn't that what the whole world is all about... to entertain me?

READ WHAT I HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN
fuck dude, I said already that I would have stuck up for ANYONE there, BUT in this case it happened to be a special circumstance being that Averydoll is closer to me than other women are.
As far as your censorship thing, I think your argument is worthless and idiotic. I don't agree with you, because you're pretending to be censored and you aren't. But I said that. Not becase it's what LitReactor people said was what was okay to say, but because that's how i feel. You weren't fucking censored. A thread was closed so the groupthink wouldn't attack a guy who came here to learn about writing and meet other writers and has since been scared away. Because THAT is what the groupthink did. Shut up about your fucking censorship bullshit, it's imagined. Go out in the REAL world and worry about something that matters. A buncha violence against women has been going on, maybe educate those people around you on the issue. A buncha kids have been getting killed recently in gun violence, maybe go out and see what you can do there. But if you think that by speaking up against the perceived censorship occuring on one little stupid message board you're going to enact any real change in the world, you're more delusional than I could have ever imagined.
And I already said, I didn't threaten you. I made fun of you and the way you always talk, you meathead. READ what you normally post (about how you'll destroy people and blah blah blah) and then read what i wrote.
This is seriously so ridiculous.
I SUCK because I will continue to stay here and argue my point until my family gets home later and we have a very nice dinner together. THAT is something that is actually important in my life, as opposed to this.

Oh wait, are we still in that Twilight Zone where privileged straight white males decide what is offensive and what isn't? Has it been decided that I can't be offended if some dude that I don't know makes what he decides are sex "jokes" towards my girlfriend (who DID say she was offended, by the way), and then when I politely and respectfully confront him about it, he brushes me off? Am I not allowed to be frustrated by that?
And in case you haven't been keeping up, my argument here isn't all about that. It started with that.
I know that your jokes about detroying people are jokes. And I said that I was joking right back, joking about your use of those phrases. And as a privileged straight white male, I have decided that you are no longer allowed to get offended or upset when people don't get your jokes. So says I.

Okay, so we have now reached the point of the conversation where the two of you are kind of saying similar things over and over, which to me means we have come to that place where nothing more will be accomplished in this moment of LitReactor history. There's no real confusion about the issue or where either of you stand on it and there will be no winner for this conversation.

Despite just seeing Utah's latest post, I just have to put this out there and then I will be done with it, so Sean can continue if the last word is really important to his manhood or something, but I'm done regardless of what is said in reference to the issue itself. I might respond to conversation about J.Y.'s sandwich.
@ Sean:
Again, what are you talking about???
I didn't brush your 'honest and curious' post off at all, I responded to it more sincerely than you meant it in the first place.
Also, I'm not white, which I'd think you would have picked up in all that reading of my previous posts that you like to bring up. Nor am I priviledged in any way other than being so lucky as to have an awesomely tolerant and sweet genius of a woman. Oh, and I have a really kick-ass cat. So, I guess, in those two ways am I priviledged.
ALL OF THIS, after the initial post I made about not wanting to get a room, has stemmed from first your girlfriend NOT telling me she was offended before censoring my post which she and I then worked out privately and I publicly stated I wouldn't make jokes like that about her again, and also stemmed from your 'honest' question of a post that was less honesty and more marking territory that I could care less about.
You can play the 'defending my woman' card all you want, but anyone who simply reads the posts chronologically will see that you're kinda disingenuous. If you sincerely want to defend your woman from something that wasn't an attack in the first place, that's on you, but I doubt she needs defense even if it was an attack, since she can just delete someone's post anyway.
All right, that's it, peace out, and I did sincerely mean it when I sent you a friend request, it's up to you if you don't want to be friendly. Utah and I will get our own room. Well, Utah, myself, and that goldfish he wanted to sex up yesterday.

Jon Hamm is Don Draper. Geez.
If everybody's not careful, Honey Badger goes on autoplay. I'll edit the fuck out of Sound's post to make it do that.
I'll censor some shit so hard it'll force itself upon your earholes.
Woopsies.
The only reason you suck, Sean, is because you can't seem to realize that all my talk about destroying people is just a joke. A JOKE, for fuck's sake!!!
You want everyone to act like adults... ADULTS JOKE AROUND. Seriously, dude, as I told you in the friend request I sent you, you really need to take a breath.
@ Bekka: Ah, I thought so too, but since you referenced his name in a big dick conversation, amid mention of Dirk Diggler, I assumed he was also the name of some porn guy. As lustful as I am, I'm not up on porn guys, so you can understand my confusion.
So says I.
Oh, and I'm breathing the best I've breathed in a long time, quit smoking about 7 months ago and feel great. Thanks for asking.
The sandwich I just ate was bangin: spicy beef links, cooked (but still crunchy) red cabbage, melted sharp white cheddar, all on some dense Black Forest-style german rye. No condiments needed.
Okay, so we have now reached the point of the conversation where the two of you are kind of saying similar things over and over, which to me means we have come to that place where nothing more will be accomplished in this moment of LitReactor history. I understand where both of you are coming from. I think everyone here does. There's no real confusion about the issue or where either of you stand on it and there will be no winner for this conversation.
I would now like to respectfully request you both take a step away and abandon the conversation for the time being. I don't plan to shut down the thread or any shit like that; I don't think either of you actually need me to do that. But let's give it a rest for a while, can ya dig it?
