Hey gang. I've been kind of a ghost around these parts lately but I still check in even when I don't post. That said, I've got a question for anyone who can help. My cousin is a songwriter and he knows that I'm a fiction writer and that I'm a member of LitReactor and asked if I knew of any similar networking sites or groups for songwriters. Unfortunately, I don't know of anywhere to guide him. Any of you fine folks of litreactor know of any online place specific to networking and workshopping songs? Thanks for the help.
Great question. They've gotta, right? But I've never sought them out online, so I'm not sure. There are definitely in-person songwriting workshops. Nashville comes to mind as the hub of such things, and I know my performing-rights organization (BMI) holds them. Remember the duo The Civil Wars? They met in a Nashville workshop. And I've heard of smaller touring musicians who will hold them in certain cities along the way to try to help make the travel worth their while.
Online, the Google suggests checking out: Frettie, The Muse's Muse, Harmony Central
I don't write songs per say, though I do write Metal and Folk like songs apparently. (It depends on how dark of a mood I'm in with my anxiety.)
But uncertain how to network, me and room mate trying to settle issues with Hotel wifi.:/
