Slit Your Wrists magazine’s enigmatic editor, Mr Laurance Kitts, is the newest special guest author at Solarcide!

Laurance’s poetry collection, See You In Heaven, is to be released soon. The collection is a reflection upon a darker period in the author’s past, a time when emotions were bare and knives were sharp.

Here, he gives us a glimpse inside, a preview of what is to come

I like that Laurance guy, heard he breaks laws while wearing a sweater vest.

Such a rebel, I wonder if he is single? I'd like his opinion on things.

People should interview him across their websites.

Great guy.

Totally random posting...plus, I don't know where to whore this news:

[My profile] Since joining on April 25, 2012, VerboseLobster has made 99 posts, earning 10 achievements.

Shameless promotion of achievements! And then it all slows down from here. Tiny roar.

Well seeing that May's winding down (seriously where does the time go?), I figured I'd take another quick moment to promote while I can.

Just some small but cool updates. I've gotten great responses to my story "Roland The Conqueror" at DarkMedia. Just noticed and retweeted an Awesome fu#$ing post from the DarkMedia guys that said "Come read one of our most popular pieces of original horror fiction to date: "Roland The Conqueror." "

That felt really good to see. There's actually a few killer stories over there right now. Check 'em all out in the Fiction section here

I think there's only 4 as far as actual comments left (3 if you take away the Solarcide ping from my ninja partner in crime), but it's still the most comments left for the stories in May. Pretty cool.

I'm also still up on the front page at SPLIT Quarterly, headlining their latest issue #6, or SPLIT6 as they call it. That's for my story "Life and Death and Laughing and Stopping." And they're currently having a submissions call for their next issue I believe, due out sometime in late June/early July.

Other than that, it's been a kick ass month for everyone on this thread, it looks like. Enjoyed "The Hot House." Looking forward to "White Light, White Heat," and also Something Dark. Everything at slityourwrists has been really impressive. Great stuff. Seriously, gang -Congratulations to all of you. Keep kicking ass. If you haven't already, get the new book Flashover by Gordon Highland. I've started that and it's good stuff for sure. Enjoying. I Didn't Mean to be Kevin is another good one as far as new books this year go, by Caleb J. Ross. That one did not disappoint and both of those books are available in Kindle as well.

Last but not least, Camp Myth #1: Phoenix Watching. It's looking Awesome. That's all I'll say about that. It speaks for itself. Check it out here

Keeping the Special Guest ball rolling at Solarcide is our favorite femme fatale, returning to our pages to take a few more heads.

Nikki Guerlain‘s dark, neo-gothic flash fiction piece, The Hot House, was used to launch Phantasmagorium‘s Weekly Offering short story feature back at the start of May.

This is not one for the crypt though. If you missed it at Phanta, you can now read it here.

Episode #89: S#!t Authors Say of Booked Podcast is now live, where the gentlemen share some excellent, detailed insights and what I blushingly-consider high praise in their review of my novel Flashover. Speaking of, they also review Phil Jourdan's Praise of Motherhood, in addition to a hilarious and disturbing conversation with David James Keaton about the infamous TongG's publishing practices.

I listened to that podcast this morning, good stuff. I added Booked Podcast to my blogroll as well.

I'll have to watch for other future stuff coming out of that place.

Definitely. I felt a little weird, because ours is a cover tune, but hey, we dig it.

Booked is a fantastic source for new stuff to add to your reading shelf. And their tastes tend to run pretty consistent with a lot of folks around here.

Solarcide Will Be Back Soon.

We have temporarily taken the site down in preparation of our most spectacular project yet. A project which is almost ready for the unleashing.

We will return soon, in a week or so, bearing all the gory details of this mighty endeavour.

For now, two words. NOVA PARADE.

It's not ridiculously long, is it? From various places I've gotten rejections at 3 months and some the same day. I'd say keep trying there every once in a while, you personally would fit in and the editing is tight enough you could clinch their whole regular readership. Plots With Guns is the only mag off the top of my head where I love every single story, and ChiZine.

manda lynn's picture
manda lynn from Ohio is reading Of Love and Other Demons (again) May 30, 2012 - 7:42pm

yeah, three months isn't unusual as an average. but thunderdome is lots sooner than that. and with deadlines, you can always just submit right before a deadline if you're feeling frisky.

bryanhowie's picture

Hey all. Congrats to everyone on their recent successes...successeses...successi? Yep, that one has to be right. Anyway, I've been off the radar for a while to focus on my ongoing kickstarter campaign, and the amazing folks over at allgeektome.net were generous enough to interview me about it!

You can check out the article here - it does a much better job at making me sound good than I ever could.

Or, if you simply take me at my word for how awesome Camp Myth is going to be, you can always donate to the campaign here. And if you know of anyone else who might be interested in the series (friends, family, co-workers, that guy down the block with the creepy eyes - you know who I'm talking about), I'd be eternally greatful if you'd spread the word and share the love.

Oh, and who do I see to get in on this whole Nova Parade thing? It sounds to me like a non-stop thrill ride that's guaranteed to define a generation... plus, you know, I'm available or whatever... :)
