I just read the book, and I'm pretty excited for the movie.

It's not like Stephen King's stuff has an awesome track record on film.

I'll blaspheme a little: I think the original movie, though good in parts, is more like an outline of the book than the commiting of the story to film, and by the end it's pretty bad. I have higher hopes for the new one.
I aslo just read it for the first time. It gets pretty machro in scale during the last act. I'm betting they ignore a lot of that. I'm also curious ito see if they do both timelines. It looks to me like it's just them as children.
Yeah, I feel like the space turtle stuff would be pretty difficult to make sense of.
And yeah, it looks like maybe it's only the kid stuff? Which could be alright, but man does that chop a lot out.
Yeah, only the kid stuff, but a sequel's already been greenlit and that will focus on them as adults.
I'm very, very excited for this movie. Seeing it Saturday morning at the Drafthouse.
Also, yeah, the miniseries is mostly terrible, especially the second half.

The scares you give yourself are always deeper than the ones you buy. Words are generally better kindling for your imagination than film.
Part one is good, it is about the kids and feels like "Stand by Me". Delving into the kids makes sense because the more the character is developed the deeper your investment in the story. If you didn't get to know Beverly you wouldn't understand the depravity of her confrontation with the old woman when she is an adult. The movie is not exact; they never are but it is a lot closer to Kings writing than the original.
The Dark Tower should not have been such a loose adaptation. Since it is his magnum opus perhaps Mr. King should try his hand at directing again, with a little help.
I would like to see a better rendition of "The Running Man". Having recently re-read it I believe now would be the time to explore those words again as it doesn't seem so far from our current situations.
I just recently read Running Man too, and it could definitely be remade. I like the movie for it's 80's schlock factor, but it's pretty damn far from the original book in terms of how things work and the level of social commentary. That's one they could remake into something different, and I feel like both movies would have a place.
