As much as I hate to pay for anything ever, I like tv enough that I can justify keeping Netflix and Hulu around for the high quality video that I can access easily on any of my little devices. No use for low quality streams, but I torrent stuff here or there, like Ghostwriter, which I started to rewatch a few weeks ago. It's a bizarre trip to revisit that show. And did you all remember that that Martial Law was like the most ridiculously racist television ever?

Honestly, I don't know what to say about Archer. Jon Benjamin does the voice and it's fucking hilarious to hear his voice, ever, but I can't get into the show -- I haven't given it much of a chance, though. Every male who's ever watched the show fucking raves about it, though, it seems.
I regularly use 1channel and projectfreetv, and movieswamp for Family Guy, American Dad! (my favorite), and Cleveland Show, but I can't stand torrenting movies and documentaries. They're either piss-poor versions or my computer can't stream them because it's from the fucking 90s.

I feel like every comedy is about hipsters now. Hipster has become such an all-encompassing term that it means everything and nothing.
Also, I think Party Down is on Netflix; if not, it's on Xfinity and AT&T On Demand. It's a pretty funny show about failed actors working at a catering company. I'm not a huge comedy fan, but most people on this thread seem to lean that way, and my boyfriend (obsessed with comedy) loves it.

Lake Mungo is quiet, eerie in all the right ways, and deeply disconcerting. In the end, it's what all "ghost" stories should be – it's sad. Set in Australia, it's sort of like Peter Weir did a ghost story back in the 1970s. You should see it.

If you're a fan like me of hammy cop drama adaptations, that LONGMIRE is a pretty keen show and a recent Netflix addition. It tries to be hip by strictly employing camera operators plagued with coffee jitters, but then it does have Starbuck from BSG as well as Ritchie Valens in it.

Does anyone here have Amazon Prime and use it for the included instant videoes? I'm on the free trial, and so far it is rocking way harder then Netflix (which I also currently have had on and for about 3 or 4 years now) or Hulu (which I hated and ditched after a few days). The selection is much smaller, but it is stuff I want to watch.

Goyer's Baroque chiaroscuro sensibilities, Starz' particular brand of psychosexual pulp, and a Disneyesque divorce from historical accuracy. The CGI basically looks ripped from ASSASSINS CREED. I think I like it.

I've found that I never seem to get tired of watching Indie Game: The Movie over and over again. It does a fantastic job, in my opinion, of showing the creative process it truly like. The anger and frustration over things like people failing to understand your work or being mistreated by the corporate bigwigs. The weird emotions we all sometimes experience when, after working so hard and so long, we finally send something out into the world. And especially the grueling amount effort it takes to create something out of nothing.
I wish their were more films like it because it seems like any portrayal of the creative process, regardless of the medium (books, movies, etc.) romanticize the act and gloss over many of the important parts. Like all you have to do is sit down for the length of a jumpcut and you have your finished product. Then it's only another jumpcut until your product is out in the world and people are talking about it and all you need to do is sit back and reap the rewards.
So I recommend Indie Game: The Movie even if you aren't into video games.

Just recently got a wii, and now I have Netflix on it. Bunch of stuff on the queue already, but I started with the Netflix exclusive horror series Hemlock Grove. 3 episodes in and I'm pretty much hooked. It's better than I expected, for sure. Executive produced and pilot directed by Eli Roth from Hostel/Cabin Fever fame.
Other than that I was hoping to get into Dr. Who because I've never watched it and heard good things. Should I start with the classics or just move on to the newer version?

Anyone seen Black Mirror? Holy crap. It's an anthology series kind of like Twilight Zone I guess. I never really saw that much but it's creepy and twisted and sci-fi, and dystopian and brilliant. Everything Ken Burns makes makes me happy - and a lot of his stuff is on Netflix. I'm currently in the middle of his series about jazz. Stellar. There's also this hypnotic and educational series about the history of film done by some European guy. Also stellar.
For just entertainment and great drama, I recommend the new AMC series, Halt and Catch Fire. The first season is on Netflix, and the second starts back on AMC at the end of the month. VERY worth catching.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is on Netflix now. Pretty awesome Iranian vampire movie. She just kind of glides around on a skateboard and fucks around with this junkie's family for the whole movie. And there's a cat who I think she astrally projects into or something, I may need to watch it again.
Everything Ken Burns makes makes me happy - and a lot of his stuff is on Netflix. I'm currently in the middle of his series about jazz. Stellar. There's also this hypnotic and educational series about the history of film done by some European guy. Also stellar.
For just entertainment and great drama, I recommend the new AMC series, Halt and Catch Fire. The first season is on Netflix, and the second starts back on AMC at the end of the month. VERY worth catching.

If you dig werewolf movies, Late Phases was recently added to Netflix stream and it's a whole lot of fun.
"Sherlock" is fun. I like the first and third episodes from each season best. Moriarty is great. The seasons are kinda weird though.
I know that projectfreetv closed but someone seems to have brought it back properly, not one of those obvious fakeries, but there aren't any films anymore and I can't enlarge the viewer.
