I recently finished the thirteenth draft of Voreth's Promise Saga, now with the title rewritten as Episodic Life Of Nadine Melville. While it's technically a novella, it is structured as two novelettes across different eras of the MCs life.
Would it be better to make them individually, or as a duology?
The story while essentially the same, has evolved to have a good bit more nuance than it did at first by making everything first person multiple. The reasoning being that first person gets inside the head of the MCs better.
It's bit like if you have one story about the MC dating one lady in the first half, and they are dating another lady in the second half. But neither are the same story.
It was dystopian, but the elements are barely noticeable now.
So this is two novellas about two different ladies the MC dated? Or what?
It's two different novelettes about two different ladies the lady dated, yes. For whatever reason Wattpad seems to think it's romance.O_o I don't get it, but whatever. I'll roll with it.
I do know when I was first sending my chapters off for critique, one comment came up how my work seems to feel a little bit soap opera like. Not sure why that is.
The romantic genre does tend to be about dating so yeah. If you have two why not do a third and do trilogy?
I could see if that works. I do write stuff that lends more to a vaguely defined futuristic surrealistic/magical realistic setting. It's set around 2020 to 2025 in a world that assumes a certain level of magic that doesn't quite reach the fantastic.
