Thank you, I hadn't seen it. Curious if anyone knows what literary prize she won that sent her to NY like that (would also love to read that original story).
In the chapter secular miracle from her memoir The Chronology of Water, she says she sent her short story The Chronology of Water to four places - all of which offered her something in return (a grant, a job, a MFA and a prize) the prize was the Writer's Exchange prize from Poets and Writers. L.W - the MFA wasn't from the magazine. She sent her story to four different places, they were NOT all magazines.

I started hearing her name a few months ago when I was searching for a writing community, and kept hearing about the writers in the Portland area, which eventually led me to Litreactor, a few weeks ago. Just this Ted talks is worth all the searching. I will begin reading her worth now. Thanks a million.
