Came a few days ago, an old copy. I open the cover, and on the title page I see that it's signed by Bret fucking Easton Ellis. Less than ten bucks. Score.

That means either some ungrateful dick sold their copy or it was a "lost in the mail" copy.

The seller didn't mention it in the description? They didn't even look at the book they were selling? You should give them negative feedback. EDIT --- It was a used book, right?

It wasn't in the description at all. Just said might have some light wear from use and possibly some writing or highlighting. No highlighting, and no writing aside from the signature and Dear Archie. But I mean, it's right there, so my guess is whatever bookstore it was didn't actually look through it, just stuck it in a pile.

Yeah, it was used. Funny thing is I wanted a crappy paperback version so that I could write in it and underline stuff for this existentialism essay I'll be writing for class, but now I don't want to write in this copy because of the signature. So I'm waiting for this other copy, and hopefully that one's not signed too. haha

Still a nice surprise.

But yeah, some used sellers don't pay attention. I've received used books which were different editions from the edition under which it was listed or which were ex-library copies without being described as such. If it ships quickly, I'm not too worried about it because I'm just looking to read, not collect.

I agree, very nice surprise. 

Yeah, I've gotten a couple that were ex-library books without being described as such. Still have the little pocket and card in the cover. But usually those are hardcover and laminated so I'm cool with it. Plus most used books are super, super cheap on Amazon and, as you say, I'm looking to read, not collect. Well, I'm looking to collect in that I want to own the stories that have really affected me so far, but not in that I care if they're in pristine condition.

I just got my paperback copy of Palahniuk's Survivor, and it's an alternate cover, which I prefer now that I see it, but wasn't listed that way when I bought it.
