I am writing a Curriculem Vitae and Statement of Teaching Philosophy for a job. I have never done this before and Google is my friend. So is the Purdue OWL.
Do any of you fine people have any personal advice or recommendations on how to proceed (or anything else pertaining to the items) based on your experiences with said documents?
If you pm me with your cv and statement, I can give you specific advice (if I can think of any). I know you have to make sure there are no sentence level mistakes whatsoever, and you stand out somehow. And the CV has to have a very clear organization. I assume you are writing a cover letter too?
I have two of them. My CV focuses more on the writing/publishing side and is what I send for teaching and writing gigs. The resume focuses on professional things and I use that for editing and office writing jobs. I've attached my CV to this. If it makes a difference, Gavin Pate sent me his CV to use as a template.
In an ever-changing economy, you never know when situations might arise that have you saying, "I need a resume fast." You'll wish you had a direct line to all the job search success secrets ever published. resume tips
I have to admit reading Nik's CV just out of curiosity.
