Inspired by GG's recent success, and by the fact that I finally got the check on Saturday, I'd like to share my first contest win, even though it was announced at the end of September. I bring this up also because Litreactor has been essential in helping me become a better writer of shorter fiction, as my tendency has been to vomit words. It's a 250 word flash, and if any one's interested, here's the link:

Thanks. I'm thinking about scanning the check and framing it though. Wish it was one of those old-school, dot-matrix bank checks, but it's just a boring BofA job:) However the prompt for the story was a photograph, and one of the other prizes was a print of the picture from the photographer herself., and that I will definately frame.

I've never made money from writing.  I'd like to someday.  Being in physical print is my goal more than money (right now).

I hear you--I badly want to get into print. I'd like to HOLD my work someday. That said, the $250 paid a phone and credit card bill just in time. Also, may be last time I get paid 1$ per word again:)
