I finished my first novel a while ago, and I gave it to two proofreaders who are good friends of mine and know what constitutes good/entertaining literature. To make a long story short, they are very slow not because of any great amount of flaws in my book, but because of their personal lives. One is a teacher, the other a church youth minister who is going to college, they have a young son together, and all of these things combine into massive delays. I love them both and they've been very supportive of me throughout this entire process and as much as I would like to keep the number of people who have read my novel low (until after it's published. Then it can go really really high) I also really need (read: want) someone to read my book in it's current state. I'm not looking for editors who will fix every grammatical mistake, what i want to know is if the story works, is belivable, and is entertaining. Just basic quality of the story/characters thing. So... any takers? The book is 111,000 + words by the way.
