Unprintable: The LitReactor Podcast Episode 18 - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Posthumous Novels

Every month, Unprintable will take an irreverent look at books, the publishing industry, reading, writing, and more; featuring the know-it-all geekery of LitReactor Review Editor Cath Murphy, Education Director Rob W. Hart, and Managing Editor Joshua Chaplinsky.

Episode 18 - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Posthumous Novels

News: Bret Easton Ellis, Noel Gallagher, and Jonathan Franzen: a darling of the 80s, the 90s, and the aughts think we care what they have to say about life in the twenty-teens. Cue the derisive comments about their seminal works!

Reads: Zombies in the age of Obamacare, two books that make Rob hard (oh, I'm sorry, that's work hard), and James Franco's Actors Anonymous, which prompts Josh to dub the multi-hyphenate "a better writer than Jack Kerouac." JAMES, FEEL FREE TO USE THIS QUOTE!

Topic: Posthumous novels. Are they a good idea? Should they be published regardless of suckitude? We discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of works from beyond the grave! (Said in scary ghost voice.)

Your Hosts

Cath Murphy writes for a bunch of literary and film websites (where “bunch” isn’t quite as many as it sounds), offering unwanted opinions on anything that appears in her crosshairs. Rob W. Hart is the associate publisher for MysteriousPress.com. His short stories have appeared in Dogmatika, Needle: A Magazine of Noir, Crime Factory, and Shotgun Honey, and he is the author of The Last Safe Place: A Zombie Novella. He lives in New York City. You can find him on the interwebz at www.robwhart.com.

Joshua Chaplinsky is the Managing Editor of LitReactor. He also writes for the popular film site Twitch and has written for ChuckPalahniuk.net.
