Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Produce "Sandman" Movie
This year is shaping up to be a big one for Neil Gaiman and his iconic comic, Sandman. Earlier this year, he announced the continuation of the series (it ended back in 1996), which itself was big news for fans. While a film adaptation has been discussed for a while now, it seems like some bigger names are lending credibility to the rumor that a Sandman film will actually be made in the near future. And who better to bring life to the series than the always-sleepy-looking Joseph Gordon-Levitt?
He's definitely signed up to produce the film, but is being rather coy as to whether he will portray the protagonist Morpheus. From his Twitter account:
Just to clarify, folks. I've signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!— Joseph Gordon-Levitt (@hitRECordJoe) December 17, 2013
A Sandman film could turn out terribly bad if left in the wrong hands, but Gordon-Levitt's film history doesn't give us much to worry about here. He's starred in The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and recently proved to be a capable director in Don Jon. Gaiman hasn't said anything yet, but he has retweeted Gordon-Levitt's announcement, so we can probably take that as a good sign. What do you guys think?
