I'm Watching You Shop: Book Buying Around The World
Via The Book Depository:
As it turns out, print isn't dead—and the Book Depository has the map to prove it. Showcasing a new purchase every few seconds, this Amazon-owned company's live map registers book purchases through their site around the world.
Teaching you shopping habits and geography at the same time, the map has a hypnotizing effect—similar to taking acid and trolling around Google Earth for hours. (Because we're all, like, connected, man...)
You can follow along with their live map here. What would be another good map? Live Kindle uploads? LitReactor user comments?

I didn't realise the Book Depository was Amazon-owned. It kinda makes it feel less like an alternative now.
Mwah mwah.
I think it would be awesome if Amazon did this, and there were maps for all the different categories, so you could see when someone bought Mein Kampf AND when something bought an embarrassing personal item called 'The Intruder.'
