I've seen the future.

Sadly the only thing I saw while I was there was the final prompt for next round.

It'll be beautiful.

It is on when the clowns show up and fuck tongues.

You fuckers know how much we love you?

Tongue love.

As much as a can of worms

cans open.

so do minds.

worms open minds.

You are all winners now.

And I want to fuck all of you.

Not fuck in a belligerent manner.

No. Nothing like that.

Think mellifluity.

Fuck means literary fuck.

Fuck like discuss what we have experienced.

Written.

How much acceleration?

Have we actually learned something?

I don't know.

Gotta tell you, guys, this WAR experience has been absolutely amazing for me.  It's put me in a place I've always tried to get to but never quite achieved.  I've arrived at the understanding that it's more important to write stories than to spend months thinking about them.

Til now, in a really productive year I'd write two (TWO!) stories.  Normally it was one.  Unless it was none.  Here, in the last three months, I've written six.  No special inspiration, either, just grinding something out of prompts I didn't particularly enjoy, forcing out first sentences when I didn't really want to, and continuing when, frankly, the material I was working with didn't seem to work for me.

I don't give a shit if I win (okay, that's a lie); the most important thing I'm bringing away from WAR is the understanding of what it takes to continue to move forward.

For that, I thank all of you.

avery of the dead's picture
avery of the dead from Kentucky is reading Cipher Sisters April 30, 2012 - 8:30am

That was beautiful.

Except what I read was:

Gotta tell you, guys, this WAR experience has been absolutely amazing for me.  Because as of yet I have not lost.  It's put me in a place I've always tried to get to but never quite achieved.  One where people think I'm awesome.

Boy, it's been difficult doing all this winning.  I'm going to say something slightly self-deprecating, but not really, just to show you how humble and fantastic I am.

I want to win.  And if you can guess which story is mine at this point, I'm hoping this speech will sway your vote.

For that, I thank all of you.

Utah and Jessica should host a TV show between them. They'd have chemistry. Possibly the mad scientist kind of chemistry, but chemistry nonetheless.

I do agree with Utah about this WAR being great for productivity. Not so good for my mental stabilty but yeah, you guys got me writing more recently than I did all last year. It's been great fun.

But WAR was exciting as hell! Yes there's a little bit of a decrease in adrenaline when you're left behind, but I want to see how it ends, and I did enjoy being in it!

As somebody who's not involved and is simply enjoying the work coming out of WAR, this is proof positive that all you need to do is do the work.  Hammer at it every day with a firm deadline and you'll be suprised at what eeks its way out.  On the edge of my seat for this coming round.

Just finished reading the stories.

Without revealing anything, I just have to say that I'm super impressed with the variance of style this round.  Some great worlds, great voices, and a great mix of styles: transgression, fantasy, sci-fi, even realism.

Seriously, I think everyone did a pretty damn good job with the photo prompts.
