Dedication to everybody who made it through Round 3. In the words of Angel Eyes: "Yep. It's getting tougher." The last round was absolutely grueling. It's almost a pity winners had to be declared for those battles, because the stories were all highly competitive. My hat's off to everybody for the effort they put into kicking some mad ass this last round.
So look across the battlefield. Take a good long look. That could be the last face you see here.
Welcome to Round 4.
Fucking aye. I barely made it out of the last round alive. Now I think i'm starting to get WAR psychosis. My whole world is becoming a plotline. You are all characters. I am starting to think I might have to kill you all before this is through. This is my rifle, this is my gun.
Look out J.Y. I just primed my charges and smeared on the camo face-paint.
@Type - What, the King Ink?
Oh, wow, I just looked at used copies on amazon and they start at $28 for a worn, creased "good." Someone's trying to get $125 for a brand new. EDIT - (I looked at this and thought, "That could be taken as genuine surprise at the going price, or a sarcastic 'fuck-off.'" It was the first.)
Here's my schedule for this week.
Tonight - write WAR story
Tomorrow - write story for second Garrett Cook and Bradley Sands workshop assignment.
Tues through Thursday- nightshift work at the hospital and sleep.
Friday through start of next week- set off across country to grab a chance to spend time with the girlfriend.
I'm halfway through my WAR story already. I'm determined to finish a first draft before I go to bed. I have to, I am just not going to get time to get everything done otherwise. I am already gonna have to do my editing for both these stories during my breaks at work, and after I get home in the mornings, which is not ideal.
Gonna be a crazy week. I figure I am going to have earned my mini holiday to the missus's after this.
WAR is bad for your health. Who'd have guessed? I am loving it though. I must be a sado-masochist.
Bring it on!
@ Rebecca - almost. I'm working on it.
I didn't quite make my goal of finishing the first draft last night. I have had to spend some time today finishing it off. Almost done. Today's story for my other assignment will have to wait until this evening to get started.
I don't always abuse myself like this. The past few weeks have just turned out to be a bit over-hectic. I have probably written more in the last six weeks than I did in six months before that. Once WAR is over, and the bizarro workshop, I will probably have a bit of a rest for a couple of weeks, mostly so the typing-ache in my fingers lets up.
Those still looking avenge WAR defeats may want to sate your blood thirst by moseying on over to the Thunderdome and picking a fight. That thread has been quiet since these battles have broken out, understandably so. Literary battles become addictions. Trust me.
The last WAR round defined the word "epic", so I can't wait to see what comes out of this one.
I reread my story from last round and found a couple of basically inexcusable errors: words out of order, missing prepositions. I'm still surprised it won.
Also, since I haven't talked any shit yet, ehem...
You're all going to die and when you do you'll all go to hell.
Happy Mondays!
I've been pretty damn dehydrated all week. The alcohol at night followed by coffee in the morning routine doesn't balance itself out, so I've been chugging tea every morning, but I'm always tired and I hate everything!
But it's raining today, and I love the rain, and I let myself lie in bed for an extra hour before getting up, so I enjoyed myself for once.
