Doc J and 8 Ball are wasted! I got news for you, you're fresh out of friends. Let's get some payback. You wanna waste her? Then waste her. Hey little school girl, I'm a little school boy too. Don't get between a dog and his meat (don't worry, I'll skip the foreplay). The dead know only one thing: it's better to be alive than dead.

Ok, I watched that movie too many times. And I don't know who I'm directing this at. Not you, YOU!

Will vote on one a day and comment on both stories. I guess particpating writers would be interested to know why one was chosen or another? I'm sure some will come down to personal taste, but some will be based on quality.

I need to wash the stink of my narrative voice out of my mind. Too much writing this week. I've been up for 36 hours though, so my voting may be unpredictable. I wonder what it'd be like to read my own writing without knowing it was me who wrote it.

Man, it's lonely here in the land of people whose memberships have been accidentally(?) cancelled.  No workshop.  No polls.  My eyes are full of tears.

So if you're not signed up for the workshop you can't view polls?  I've always been confused about this.

Yeah, you can talk about your opponents all you want.  Because we all know who your oppontent is.  At least, we do if we look at the tournament bracket.

bryanhowie's picture

I think War is making the number of reviews go down.  I know I haven't been doing much critiquing for a few months, but the number of submissions and critiques seems to have slowed down.

What I'm saying is.... War... UHHH!  Good God, y'all.  What is it good for?

Not necessarily nothing... Just make sure you take notes for critques for when the writers post these stories in the workshop.

Liana's picture
Liana from Romania and Texas is reading Naked Lunch April 2, 2012 - 1:31pm

I think I'll stop reading critiques of the War stories before I read the stories themselves. It's a little different from the first round.

avery of the dead's picture
avery of the dead from Kentucky is reading Cipher Sisters April 2, 2012 - 1:36pm

And I would recommend that to everyone who is voting.  The critques will no doubt help the writer, but naturally we don't want to influence anyone else or thier vote.

bryanhowie's picture
bryanhowie from FW, ID is reading East of Eden. Steinbeck is FUCKING AMAZING. April 2, 2012 - 1:41pm

But make sure that after the voting is done and the writers of each story are announced, if the writer does post his/her work in the workshop, to post your critiques there.  Not only do you get points, but it shows that the workshop is active and flourishing.

Hi all. Have been a little absent the last couple of days.

Many congrats to everyone for getting the stories in on time and everything. Fucking amazing.

And many thanks to Utah and Avery for keeping this thing running smooth. You guys rock. Seriously.

I am gonna read and vote in one or two match-ups each day. Can't wait to see what you all came up with.

Peace, and best of luck to all.

It certainly doesn't take long to get through all the stories.  There are some real standouts this round, some of them paired together, which makes voting feel like torture.

aliensoul77's picture
aliensoul77 from a cold distant star is reading the writing on the wall. April 2, 2012 - 7:51pm

well at least there aren't a milllion stories to read like the other week.   It will take less and less time each round, we should cut down the voting time around the third or forth round to like Friday. Although if I lose, I will stop voting and not read any stories lol  JUST KIDDING!

Renfield's picture
Renfield from Hell is reading 20th Century Ghosts April 2, 2012 - 8:37pm

I wonder how many people will keep voting, for real.

When I lose I'm just going to vote against every fuckin story. I don't know how I'm going to do that just yet, but I'll find a way.

I am gonna vote when my brain is actually functioning to a high enough level i can follow the stories. I tried reading like, one, and it was really good, but 30 seconds later i couldn't remember it, which means my voting would be very flawed. Sleep Dep + Serious voting = bad combo. polls are open til friday again?

aliensoul77's picture
aliensoul77 from a cold distant star is reading the writing on the wall. April 2, 2012 - 11:32pm

Well, I just wonder if it's always gonna be 32 people voting or if random site members will vote and then what if one story has 32 votes and another has 28 votes, do we still count it?

Bekanator's picture
Bekanator from Kamloops, British Columbia is reading Ugly Girls by Lindsay Hunter April 3, 2012 - 5:46am

Isn't that not what happened in the first round anyway?  The story with the most votes wins, even if it's 1 - 0.

In the first round, my matchup only had 25 votes overall.
