Impact of the story is a good way to put it. Kinda ties in a bunch of stuff: readability, flow, pace, twangs, conflicts and their resolution, overall creativity, et all - you name it

personally i didn't change my writing one bit. the point of the competition is write a good story and my writing is pretty damn easy to spot. a blessing and a curse i suppose. this is fun. i can't wait to see who wrote what. but im pretty sure that if someone guessed a story is mine then they've probably read a story i wrote and know my methods. i don't really see this as a bad thing or a good thing.
anyhow i'm through 1-7. i thought there were some pretty close ones for sure. makes you question what you think a good story is and isn't. like if the writing isn't as smooth but the content is more ambitious ... sometimes it's a difficult call.
anyhow, i appreciate being invited to participate :)

I'm terrible at picking out writing styles, so I haven't been able to pick out who wrote what. I've been enjoying this so far. For the most part I was surprised with the stories I ended up voting for. We will end up finding out who the writers are after the voting is up, right?

@Richard- I think I just read your story. When the dust settles, I'll see who I can spot. I think wickedvoodoo might be an easy one for me as well. Beckanator- if I can't spot your story, then you really switched gears.

There's so many I just read. One in particular kinda made me think of you, but the content was different, plus it was posed against another writer I think I might recognize, and you're not against that person yet. How fucking vague can I be with this conversation! ha ha ha.

I'd like to think mine won't be obvious as far as style, because I'm not used to such a short word count and that really forced me to write differently. But we'll see.

@covewriter - Well actually, any member can vote. Hopefully they read both stories before doing so, but the voting isn't limited to the war participants. Any workshop member can read and vote, so it's not over until the poll is closed at the end of the week. that and we know who your opponent is because it's in the bracket. Telling us the voting scores just tells us which stories they are...
@danny - just think of it as one less body to have to step over on your way to the mug of champions.

It was a lot more difficult than I expected to pick out who wrote who, I think I got Wickedvoodoo and maybe Jacks, probably Nikki. I read through a bunch so quickly though and I haven't read everyone before. I based my votes off of a) prose b) story, nothin else. It seems like a lot of people really stepped up their game.

It's pretty cool that not a SINGLE story is winning by a landslide. Looks like both writers brought their A-game. I know I sure as hell busted my ass. To all the heavy hitters participating- this is only gonna get harder! I guess that's why they call it WAR.

@flaminia- yeah I'm def gonna revise later this weekend and send what I wrote out somewhere. The word count kinda forced me to make cuts that would have made it a little smoother so that extra 500 words is really gonna make what I wrote sing (imho).

Damn, I read the stories for another match up and I think it's the toughest call yet. Gonna go for a wander to the shops and ponder that one before I vote on it.
And this time round I have no idea who either of the writers are either.

I'm having the same problem, need to let the stories mull over a bit in my mind before I can make a decision, and so far I think I might have found Chester's, but the rest of them are a mystery.
I've also been trying to figure out whose story is whose, to no avail... with the exception of one. I'm pretty sure of that one.

As for iding who wrote what. I am at a loss.
yeah, i see all of them now. weird. reading.

Thankful to be involved. It's an amazing exercise to help you write. I live by deadlines, so bring them on again sometime soon.

It isn't that I had nothing to say here, or that I edited it out later. I thought some things, they might have been incorrect.
But then I made this post for fun.
@Richard- I think I just read your story. When the dust settles, I'll see who I can spot. I think wickedvoodoo might be an easy one for me as well. Beckanator- if I can't spot your story, then you really switched gears.
Bill - I'm glad, although I was sure my style was still obvious. We'll see.
There's so many I just read. One in particular kinda made me think of you, but the content was different, plus it was posed against another writer I think I might recognize, and you're not against that person yet. How fucking vague can I be with this conversation! ha ha ha.

wow i can't pick out anyone's yet. im amazed you guys can. that is awesome.
So many great stories. Great work everyone.
Well I'm off to bed. Will read and vote on a couple more matchups when I get up.
Congrats again everyone.
I have a couple of suspicions but I'm really not good at guessing who's who. So I'm not going to try too hard. Some stories were awesome though.
So there shoudl be 16 votes total yes?
@Covewriter - One person didn't submit their story in time, so there are only 15 battles.
@Bill - Not going to lie, I've been trying to pick out your story based on word count alone.
There are only four more votes so congtats goes to my colleague! I won't say who because of the secrecy of the voting. Still, it was a blast!
So I won by default because my opponent missed the deadline. Yay?

It's sad we can't see his story, though. Or can we?
oh sorry if i gave away info.

Maybe I will post my story in the workshop later.
@Cove - yeah really there should be over 30 votes per story. If we are all doing our job.
I have picked out who wrote about four or five of them. Of course I can't verify that. Just guesses.
so far I only see Dakota's story
/wrist
That's how I'm feeling now.
I am so stupid. I was only counting 16 votes. I should not type or communicate with anyone after 1 am if alcohol is in the picture.
It's pretty cool that not a SINGLE story is winning by a landslide. Looks like both writers brought their A-game. I know I sure as hell busted my ass. To all the heavy hitters participating- this is only gonna get harder! I guess that's why they call it WAR.
I think I might be reading Laurence now! Ack I really can't wait to know who wrote what so we can talk about it!
On the bright side, we've got plenty of time to revise our stories after each round and, who knows.. shop them around?
I'm having loads of fun, reading cool stories, trying to figure out who's who.
I wonder if @Richard and @Cove have found @Jack's and @mine stories, cause I'm searching especially for yourses.
Yes. I can't wait to talk about who didn't vote for me so I can plot revenge. I mean...
plot revenge.
@flaminia- yeah I'm def gonna revise later this weekend and send what I wrote out somewhere. The word count kinda forced me to make cuts that would have made it a little smoother so that extra 500 words is really gonna make what I wrote sing (imho).
i've had a really hard time figuring out who wrote what. i have a few stories that i THINK i know, but not sure.
I'm the story no one read.
I was gonna guess that!
I think Danny's story will most likely be posted pretty soon. I've got a fun idea that I'm gonna try to pimp here today or this evening.
@utah
Alright, medium pimpin', let's hear it.
I'm very sure about Americantypo's story! I had a few clues to guess that one. Btw, you did a great job typo!
I have a good idea of three of them. After reading mine again, it seems pretty obvious.
Mine should be obvious to you Rian. You have reviewed my stuff lately. Though you review a lot generally.
Damn, I read the stories for another match up and I think it's the toughest call yet. Gonna go for a wander to the shops and ponder that one before I vote on it.

I found Nikki's and quite possibly Jessica's. Afterwards, I think it'd be cool to show how all of our guesses fared.
I'm so easy...
...
(rendered speechless)
I think I spotted a Pane.
@Dave - yeah.
Okay then.
Spotted Avery's and Nikki's.
