Sent mine over. Phew. That email felt good to send.
Just gotta hope it's better that Jason's now. I will say one thing, I would definitely never have written this story without the prompt, thats for sure.
I still supsect it may suck. But it was fun so hey, I don't mind.
Renfield
from Hell is reading 20th Century GhostsMarch 18, 2012 - 2:51am
Going to be under the wire tomorrow with a quick revision. Needs a couple lines here and there but I've got plenty of room. Broke a lot of rules in so little space. Fucking prompts.
Liana
from Romania and Texas is reading Death by Sunshine by Allison BurnettMarch 18, 2012 - 2:59am
That makes me nervous... What if someone doesn't read the whole story because of a slow part of it, but it's an awesome story? Danny you have to read every single word of every single story! Jk...... (NOT!)
aliensoul77
from a cold distant star is reading the writing on the wall.March 18, 2012 - 3:03am
I will read at least half a story before I give up on it. If it hasn't engaged the reader at the halfway point then I think it's fair to say it won't but I will still skim the rest to see if by some miracle, they pull a twist somewhere. You have nothing to worry about. LIke with your anthology story, I think you are good with dialogue. Just always be engaging and make your characters say weird shit lol

i voted in your poll. i think that means it's broken, since i could....
@ renfield - i have to bury a few lines to up the prompt compliance myself. wasn't paying attention to one adjective in the prompt and i'm not sure f that adjective could cause me problems by way of technicality...

Dear Everybody:
It appears it is not possible to make a poll that has members-only access, so it will not be possible to post the files in polls where voting takes place. Averydoll has saved the tournament's bacon with the sharp suggestion that we post the story files in a locked discussion thread and post the poll separately. This way your stories can still be posted privately.
So thanks, Averydoll.
And to all of you, please accept my apologies for not seeing this issue earlier and maybe getting it smoothed over.

And to add to it, you bumped the page.
But really, this is just a minor thing. I don't think it will make a difference. And you caught it before it caused a problem, and that is what matters.

With the whole private polling biz, will non-combatants be unable to read and vote? Paying members only? I was hoping to rip you all off mercilessly wade through the carnage.

If we have this all worked out, only paying members will be able to see the stories. Technically everyone could vote, but if they haven't read the stories, I don't know why they would. But, they can at least see the poll results.

no way, go for http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/mcd/2905665151.html
that's pretty fuckin cool howie. i mean, besides the fact that i'd kill myself going all gonzo on it.
I've finished my WAR! story yesterday. But I don't feel like parting from it yet.. we've been together intensely.
These are going to be posted in the Workshop, right?
not for the voting @Howie
after each round is complete though, it's possible to workshop those stories the course of which is kaputt in WAR. Right?
Almost done at the dealership then I got to write my story. Talk about last minute writing flurry!
wow, so i'm looking at the brackets, and if i want to make it all the way, just based on the seeding, my battles would be something like this
1. covewriter (8)
2. flaminia (4)
3. nkwilczy (2)
4. rmoon (1) or avery (2)
5. nikki (1) or manda (1)
wow. that would be VERY difficult.
what time are these due tomorrow as in EST? i want to know if i needed to finish revisions tonight or could do it tomorrow evening...
i think it's 9 pm cst. but i couldn't find the details. maybe it's on the prompt you were PMd? I lost that too.
10 PM CST, so 11 in real time Manda.
But that was yesterday. We all massively spaced on the date. It's all ruined.
"We all massively spaced on the date."
Mwahahahha! I'm the winner by default!
I really don't feel confident going into the first round. If I win, I'll buy you all an ice cream!*
*I'll post some sort of picture of ice cream on here.
no worries, they are due Sunday night. at 10 PM CST (oops on the 9 PM).
My hope this round is to become a "7" instead of an "8" for next time, or maybe a "6."
i'm almost finished revising, now - i realized combing through all the threads looking for a defintie time would take longer than to just do it tonight. thanks though :)
cool. best of luck. but you won't need it.
Drinking hanger one on the rocks cause I'm done work and my motherfucking
Story is done. Boom!
@typo you go! i'm gonna be like the last one in. you put me to shame. all of youz.

War! It's fan-tastic.
I'm sure it's great :-)
Oh, it is.
But it still might suck. ;-p
all stories should have a little sucky suck in them! :-)
Mine goes in the mail right now!
This is going to be a long week of voting and reading stories.
I say we all just read the first line of each story and judge it by that. That's fair, right?
Totally fair. If the first line doesn't grab you it's all over!
Jk. Maybe ;-)
Going to be under the wire tomorrow with a quick revision. Needs a couple lines here and there but I've got plenty of room. Broke a lot of rules in so little space. Fucking prompts.
I will read each story unless it bores the fuck out of me. Then I will say fuck you story. If I like neither story I will not vote.
That makes me nervous... What if someone doesn't read the whole story because of a slow part of it, but it's an awesome story? Danny you have to read every single word of every single story! Jk...... (NOT!)
Hey, will any non-members here please go to this thread and let me know if they can vote on the poll? Please?
I will read at least half a story before I give up on it. Too late... I sent my story already! There's nothing weird in it! Except all of it. Ok, I'm shutting up.
Liana, I disqualify you.
i voted in your poll. i think that means it's broken, since i could....

you seem to have smoothed it over. no apologies necessary.
Whatever. I'm off to repeatedly kick myself in the nuts now.
And to add to it, you bumped the page.
But really, this is just a minor thing. I don't think it will make a difference. And you caught it before it caused a problem, and that is what matters.
how do - is that even physically possible??
Only on accident.
Been gone all weekend, but will have mine in tonight.
The seeding is totally bogus.
Seeding in general is pretty bogus.
North Carolina is the number 1 seed now.
Come on.
How would you rather we do it, just for future reference?
Random generator? Seeding based on the winners of this tournament?
Duck, duck, goose?
I don't see how that is really any different.
With the whole private polling biz, will non-combatants be unable to read and vote? Paying members only? I was hoping to
rip you all off mercilesslywade through the carnage.I just think the seeding was a bit off. But what the hell do I know.
I haven't even finished my story. Stop distracting me!
If we have this all worked out, only paying members will be able to see the stories. Technically everyone could vote, but if they haven't read the stories, I don't know why they would. But, they can at least see the poll results.
@Jacks - that's fine. But in the long run, does it matter? I mean...if you can't beat everyone, you won't win. Know what I mean?
EDIT: Also, if you think they are off, you can always pretend they were done randomly.
Is that so people actually can't rip stuff off, or so editors can't claim the story is already available, thereby preventing publication?
@J.Y. - The latter.
