i know the cult has one, and a lot of us (myself included) are on board with that book, but in the future more and more of us will not be cultists, or at least might not be interested in the book choices there from month to month. so what do we think?

Yikes, looks like something isn't working properly...

Pete actually mentioned a couple times how he'd like to run one.  I bet with the amount of users we're going to have here, it'd actually be a little bit easier to garnish interest.  The Cult was usually hit and miss when it came to book club.

I could ask Dennis and see what he thinks.

@kirk i'd say.

there isnt a way to add a conversation to a poll, and every reply has a subject field.

EDIT: can we get a reply with quote button, too, while im thinking about it?

Quote hasn't been forgotten, but I disabled it right before we opened because it was breaking some stuff. It will be back soon.

It seems like a book club would garner alot of interest here in the near future, even more so than The Cult.

I agree -I'm only going over to the Cult now to check in with this month's Book Club and think the Book Club in general would be a great addition to LitReactor. Why not?

It would be great if we could focus on books written by staff, member promotions and other smaller uknown novels. Not that anything should be limited. Look, I love authors like Chuck Palahniuk and all of the classics by great novelists, but there are really good books out there that are getting passed over because they don't have a marketing campaign behind them. We should look for those books.

ok, who voted no? i'd like to hear a reason for this

im with gray, i would like to see us read more lesser-known or new authors... call it market research... thats what actors do when they go to the movies, and they get a tax write off for it. these dont always have to be what we go for, or it doesnt have to be a "new" book from an author fitting the discriptions listed. i just think it would be neat if we were here doing our thing and helping people struggling to do theirs, who have written some great words down...

I voted yes.

Maybe have columnist's of this website write reviews for new and upcoming authors & novels?
THEN maybe let the LitReactor community as a whole vote for which books to feature.

Just some ideas to make a book club more exciting.
