I need submissions. The current Weekly Prompt is broad and open to several interpretations.

500-1000 word story on the picture.

No editing needed. Just submit.

Why am I going to such great lengths to get this puppy out there?

I think it has potential and is a good way to get (non including) members to put out some work.

It's a good exercise.

Either way I was considering putting down some prizes, weekly or monthly. It all depends, nothing too big or major, but something nice ya' know?

The Rough House: Prompt of the Week

It's also a gateway for Chester's Flash Me! thread.

Everyone's busy waging War.  I started working on the theme park prompt, but alas, did not get back to it.  I'll get a sub on the thread soon!  I do really, really like this weeks prompt.  Dual wield War and Rough House?  Can it be done?

It's cool.

For the prompt just type out whatever comes to mind. Doens't have to be an all out masterpiece. Just enough to get you writing or get some practice in.

I like to think of it as Tangential Practice.   You know - you see a picture and let you brain start dinging around in tangents.  Then you can see whether or not the story has merit.

I do this when starting a new story - it works, serious...

1.  Free-write for 10 minutes or so (you can set a specific time if you're AR) - Tangential thinking - no pressure

2.  Do that every day for 5 days (M-F)

3.  Use the w/e to look them over - pick one that looks the most promising.

4.  write the damn story

5. If you're still not feeling it - then take the 5 (you don't have to use them all) - and develop a single completed scene to better realize what your subconsious was trying to say.

6. Write the damn story.

Just throwing ideas out there.

@ Panda - War had me tied up this w/e - look forward to getting the prompt explored in the next few days.

@Fritz

Very true.

Did someone say prizes!

Yes.

The Rough House is now offering free books to winners. I call them Kick Around Copies. They're used books, good ones, but in good condition.

Hey, it's free.

This week the winner can choose between a copy of No Country For Old Men or The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales.

The pictures of both books are up.

Like I said.

Kick Around Copies.

Not in the best condition, but the actual pages are in great condition. Just the covers are a bit used. Either way it's free.
