I realized the other day that I basically showed up here, started posting a lot, critiqued a few workshop submissions, thanked a few people for their critiques on my own, and then just ceased to exist. I'm currently visiting home in California, and yes, there are still people without the Internet, my mother included. LitReactor apparently doesn't at all work either on my very much non-smart phone, nor on Safari on my iPod, so I can't really access the site on wifi either. I'm at an Internet cafe now, and my original intent had been to apologize for the delay in my verifying all the feedback I've gotten as "very helpful". I wanted everyone to get their points in a timely fashion, but Safari wasn't digging on me even just clicking the links. One seemed to have gone through, but the others didn't until I got to a real computer.

So yeah... that. Also, I didn't want anyone to think that because I showed up and then disappeared that I'd had an unpleasant experience or didn't like the people here. I'm sure nobody was thinking anything of the kind, and most are probably reading this and going, "Michael who?" but still: this place is great and I'm looking forward to being able to participate fully at the end of my 2 weeks back home.

Cheers, folks.

Can't represent the whole group, but I speak for myself. I'll miss you!

If you don't rate a story's feedback, it get's "Very Helpful" automatically (after a month, I think), so no worries there.  We'll all miss having you in the workshop and on the forum, but it's good to know you'll be back.

People sort of float in and out all the time. No big deal.

Sometimes it's fun to come back and see who remembers you.

I was talking about other people like Dave. I hope he comes back.

I was VerboseLobster, but I changed my name to RoaringJen because then everyone would know that I'm female. I've only been on this site for like two months?

A lot of people are taking the summer off. It's crazy how many people...all this time I thought I scared everyone away. And then I realized that I'm not important in anyone else's life but mine.

Jen, all the regulars know that was your old screen name. I was being silly.

I suppose my review was the one that went through. Thanks! Very excellent first story, by the way.

Thanks mate.

Trip was great, but it did make me realize just how much I miss California. Which I knew, but just maybe not quite how much. Seeing the ocean was more amazing than it had any right to be. And it'd only been a year since I'd seen it.

What is it about the ocean? The opening to Moby Dick comes to mind, all that stuff about setting a man's feet to wander and he'll eventually lead you to water. It's always been true with me. I've gotten used to Texas for the most part, and I haven't experienced the culture shock everyone kept warning me about, but the lack of hills, the lack of water, and the overabundance of brown really gets to me some days. And the heat. It barely got above 70 at my mom's place just outside SF. I came back to 100 degree weather with 40% humidity. Which really isn't even that bad for Fort Worth, and will only get progressively more awful.

Good to be back, either way, if only because family takes up a lot of time and I didn't get nearly as much writing done as I'd hoped to. I feel pretty distant from my mss right now, which is frustrating. Hopefully daily work habits will get me back on track, but I'm also attempting to start school again, and have stuff to do for that, which is a frustration all its own.

Looking forward to getting back into stuff here, though. Too much vacation may have turned my mind to mush.

I actually like Fort Worth a lot. I go downtown nearly every weekend since I live just a few minutes away and parking is free. Nice and easy. Not like SF or even downtown Oakland. Just go, park, do whatever, leave. I've actually been tempted to buy season tickets to the symphony just because I know I'd actually go. If I did that back home, it would probably just be wasted money.

Also hope to see you back soon. However I'm on safari on my IPad now and it's working great. Haven't tried to do a marked up review, but at least I can post and read. Give safari another try.

Weird. I'll try it again at some point. I couldn't log out today from the library either, using IE. Everything else was fine, but logging out? Clearly this was asking too much.

So Quick Apology x2: I didn't realize I had a bunch of friend requests pending. I thought I'd approved them, but saw this morning that I only had a few official friends, and there were 3 or 4 just sitting there awaiting my approval. So sorry to anyone who thought I was a dick and didn't want to be their friend. I love you, honest!

Where's my friends request Michael? Do I mean nothing to you, after all we have shared and not even a friends request. I don't believe that you do indeed love me.

My sincerest apologies. You have a Radiohead shirt on, so we can be friends even though you don't like Death Cab.

Just saw them, whoo hoo, amazing!! I am seriously in love/obsessed with Thom Yorke, musical genius and amazing dancer. Oh and Johnny Greenwood, for this tour they had the drummer for Portishead Clive Deamer play as a second drummer it was crazy. Watch Radiohead live from the basement full video is on YouTube.

I'm not sure about the amazing dancer part..

I'll check out the live video. Tickets were pricey, huh?
