I still say the loss of private equity coupled with an increase in cost of living (consumer pricing index) and substantially higher tuition cost is scary. Why the fuck bother having kids at this point.

But it was kind of an odd pic....shouldn't we make a thread with shit like that and designate it NSFW or lose your lunch? Just so I can avoid it and never bother checking it?

It's called trypophobia: fear of holes. Something you do NOT want to see is porn of it. (I came across that when I was on 4chan. It scarred me.)

I want a pair of those in place of where my jumblies would be if I had any.

Also, just a word of advice....be careful what you put in your heads, it doesn't go away.

It's a lotus pod. There is a photoshopped pic of a boob with it on there, too and people were claiming it was some kind of disease. It's just a flower.

Because I'll search for it when I need to.  I don't particularly like seeing shit when I'm not looking for it.

I don't know; it seems sort of stupid to get uptight about a Photoshopped picture, but my sister is literally afraid of mustard, and after seeing her cry after so many pranks pulled on her over the years, perhaps I've developed a bit of a soft spot for shit that makes people uncomfortable.

Blue Hawaii, my story from the last round had cleft lips and ants, two things I'm not too fond of looking at.  All I'm saying is, you do your research when you need to.

Matt Attack's picture
Matt Attack from Richmond, Va. is reading As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner April 18, 2012 - 11:13am

I am just not sure I want to expose myself to it and don't like having it thrown at me. Just my thing. I guess maybe I don't have the palate for unnecessarily disturbing imagery. I grew up on a farm and even served in the military, I am no strange to brutal shit, that said, you should really, really be careful what you expose yourself to, memories can last forever. If I am a prude, then I'm a prude, but I wouldn't consider myself a wimp. I write some dark stuff...just not without purpose....

edit, then again, I may just be this girl. LOL

Yeah, right, you pansies! Those little pods were the inspiration for this:

Some of the best ideas are not the ones you wanted to pursue. They got thrown at you. But are you guys really that disturbed by that image? I thought some of you were kind of joking.

The populace around here is getting less and less transgressive all the time.

The populace around here is getting less and less transgressive all the time."

That just gives more spice and flavor! It's not a bad thing.

The strange thing is, I have seen some really sick shit in real life....like (and I won't be graphic) when I was kid my Dad wanted to see if I was responsible, so he got me my own calf. I raised him from about a week old on. Fed him with the bottle and everything. Eventually he got big and I had to help butcher him (which a 1600 lbs animal being butchered is very unpleasant). I cried when we put him down, but I understood (since he was feeding the family) that it had purpose.

I am sure most of you have seen road kill, or dead animals, or been to funerals and such, but unnecessarily disturbing or violent imagery is pointless and damaging. It is disconnected from reality and serves no purpose other than to warp someone.

But, I am willing to admit maybe I am being a little wimp...who knows. It's possible, didn't mean to go all ranty or politically correct about basically a non-issue.

Some people like that sort of thing.  I really don't know why.  I have a friend who loves torture-porn kind of movies, and even hearing him talk about it makes me sick.  It's just not my thing.

There is disturbing shit that I like and disturbing shit that I don't.  I'm pretty sure we all have barriers of a certain variety.

I liked Ryan Gosling before he became popular. That's because I watched Lars and the Real Girl, and I just thought he was a great new actor and the movie was not a big  production and was quite touching etc.

Bekanator's picture

I remember being in elementary school when he was in Young Hercules.  My sister and I fucking loved him.  Then The Notebook happened and I kind of forgot about him.  I'm too hipster like that.

The Hey Girl memes are a guilty pleasure, though.  And he is a great actor.  I respect that shit.

I'll stop...

Liana's picture

In my defense, Lars and the Real Girl was somewhat about psychosis. The not-so-dangerous kind, and maybe not quite psychosis. Plus, last episode of House ripped it off shamelessly and it wasn't a 10th as good as Lars!

But also Blue Valentine was good. Notebook, blah.
