Depends on the specific state statute, but not in North Carolina.
You know, a lot of states mandate missionary style as well, the laws are on the books in a lot of places and every other position is technically illegal.
But the laws don't get changed because they are completely unenforcable.

Honestly I think it's retarded that if the age of consent is 16, that a 16 yo could be considered a pedo for having sex with a 14 year old. I think if people are a few years apart even 17 and 21, it really doesn't make a difference unless the person's parents want to press charges. I know girls date guys who are older all the time when they are in high school, the guys aren't going to say no and the girls aren't going to tell their parents unless they get knocked up. Then the Dad and Mom might want to say it was statutory rape but let's be honest, if a girl chooses to have sex with a guy and she is 16 at least, I would say she is of her right mind. Now 13-15 year olds can be immature and manipulated easy. Yet I think when you are 16-18, you should be able to live by your decisions. I have a lot of opinions though. I think if a girl wants to get an abortion without her parent's approval she should, it is no one's fucking business to force a child to have a baby. Anyone who disagrees should watch that Teen Mom show on MTV. To me, pedophilia is when you have a 30 year old man dating a 15 year old girl or a 40 year old woman having sex with her 13 year old male student.

In Italy, if you're 13 you can have sex with someone not older than 16. Ok, it should be told the other way around, but girls tend to be precocious here. 14 is the age of consent. It rises to 16 if the older partner is in a position of authority (educators, doctors, officials) and to 18 if the old one is a parent or a tutor.
Relationships are serious shit. My last one left me with murderous tendencies, so I pretty much had to keep nice people away from me, in case of a stabbing reflex or stuff, for a couple years.

I do agree that people experiment young and stuff. But to be honest, if you're a 16 year old, you have to be pretty creepy to find a 13 year old attractive. There's a noticable age gap, and personality gap and physical gap at that age. Age difference shouldn't usually be a problem, but I think at the age of 16 finding someone that young is a bit strange.
And I'm 18, so I kind of know what I'm talking about. I think the whole 14- 19 age is one of the most formative in a persons personality, and you change greatly over a year. Hell, I wouldn't date a 16 year old.

I think the rule only applies when there is someone that stills falls into the category. So two 15-year-olds can have sex and no problem. I think the law only comes into play when someone in the relationship is past that age of consent. So if a 17-year-old is dating someone that's 21 and they have sex, THEN it becomes illegal because it's deemed as the older one is the 'adult' and taking advantage of the minor in the situation and forcing it upon them.

Anyway, let's stop talking about pedophilia before someone reports this thread to the FBI. There was a good movie about a teacher fucking her student though, Notes on a Scandal. I love that movie because it is so twisted because the old lady who runs the school finds out and keeps it a secret for her because she is in love with her plus the teacher is a Mom and married of course but has a son with down's syndrome and a teenage daughter. It reminds me of the movie Catfish in a way, the way some women are so overwhelmed by their lives and marriages and the harsh reality of motherhood that they hook up with underage boys to feel young again. It is a very weird psychological phenomenon because usually you see men do that and not women.

Just want to let everyone know I will be going over all the submissions and if there are any issues, I will email you back but for now, I will mostly be editing and putting stories together along with my schooling and whatever other writing projects I got going on here and there. If I don't get back to you right away, please don't take that as a rejection or that I think your story sucks, it just means that I am overwhelmed and need time to go over everything. I gave some people extensions and I am in a state of waiting myself to hear back. This isn't a fast process. So I'm sorry if I misled anyone to think that this book will be out like in two months or something. Since we have mutually agreed we want to publish it through a legit publisher before pursuing the self-publish option, I am willing to devote at least six months of querying about the anthology to various publishers and agents. Ideally, the first person I submitted to who is looking at it now will say, "Hell yeah, I want this!" but I can't guarantee that and I am forever the back-up plan guy so I am still looking for other publishers/smaller presses that I think would be good for our anthology. I think no matter what, it is going to be an ongoing project where we will have to self-promote in order to up sales. I would like to get a smaller publisher to publish it and then whatever funds we get we could use towards promotion. I would like to pay a small fee to those who want to be paid or as some people have requested, they can donate their portion towards promotion and/or the charity. I am not going to force anyone to donate or feel like they have to, so if I get a decent amount for the anthology, I am keeping the option open to everyone discreetly one-on-one of how they want to be paid for their story.
However, worst case scenario that after six months of querying, we cannot find a publisher, then we will self publish because no matter what this anthology will exist in one form or another. I refuse to just say "oh well" and let all these great stories disappear into the ether. Yet I am very optimistic that we can find a home for this baby, I think if we all put our minds together, we can figure out the best place for this book. I know a few people have mentioned various publishers who take chances are edgier projects so I will be looking into those. I have also developed a marketing plan as I know some of us have discussed on here, because a few smaller presses require a marketing plan for how "you will market your book if they publish it" which sounds weird but if they are willing to pay to print up the book and we retain the majority of the profits and all we have to do is promote it, it is a lot better than going through amazon and having them take 70% of the sales. Or having to sell it for 1.99 on kindle, again "ideally" we want to sell a physical copy of the book that people are willing to pay at least 12-17 dollars for. In the meantime, we have great people here like Becky who is maintaining our webspace and you can feel free to link to it through your own blogs, etc. We will continue to maintain an online presence so that when the book is published, we will have something to show those who are interested in the project. Also if anyone wants to use their story for a live reading like Dakota did, I have no problem with that. Just direct them to our webspace or the litreactor website. Also, I liked the idea Becky had where she put "the story behind the story" so to speak of what the writer's motivations were. For the bios, tell me what your illness was, why you chose it and whatever biographical stuff you want. From now until publication, any anthology inspired artwork, book reviews, movie clips or even flash fictions that are relevant to the anthology could be put on the website.

Yeah but that's more like Granny sex. I used to work for a sex line so I really don't get the guys who want Grandma to bake them cookies and then sit on their face. I find that weird.
Then again I feel bad watching foreign porn where everyone just looks really hungry and glad to be working.
"some women are so overwhelmed by their lives and marriages and the harsh reality of motherhood that they hook up with underage boys to feel young again."
I wasn't underage, but I was this guy, and she royally screwed me up in the head. So guys, it may seem like a good idea at the time, but it will cost you several years of your life and a couple thousand in therapy and medication.
@Danny, I just mailed to you the final version of my DID story for the Antho. Thrilling!!!
Yeah...I dropped in to get updated and instead got 3 pages of pedophilia discussion...
Anyway....(elipses abuse)....Danny, you know where I am at, should have it to you by tomorrow evening.
Thanks everyone,
Danny

Thank you, Daniel.
It will be fun to cradle this project. I mess up with various media, so something sonic/visual will come to surface this way. In the meantime there's Wanda on Twitter @wandmore.
Danny - I think you are doing a fine job and if you need help...I can try. Although I am not really sure what I would do to help you. But anyway, I feel better having offered.
Just do what you can and keep us updated of any goings ons.
I live in a really grassroots centered community, and I am sure I could get something together to do a reading at an event already going on, and point people to the website. Of course, that will have to wait until I am home.
Wow - I was away for a few days and this thread went a bit strange.
But to the task in hand - congrats to Danny!!! That contents list looks awesome buddy. Great work. Though heed his words people, this book is still a while away. These things take time, and there is work yet to be done. The good thing of course is that it means we still lots of time to hype and promote. The website, the artwork, the talk of readings, it all sounds great! I shall have a good think about something I could chuck in to the mix promotion wise.
Exciting stuff.
I'd be open to helping as well. I've got stuff going on, but not really anything that feels more important than this project right now.
I'd be happy to help in any capacity. Donations, publicity, whatever.
I have friends and contacts in a bunch of local gaming stores and comic shops around the Eastside (Bellevue, Redmond, Everett, Renton, Seattle etc) so I could see about flyers and getting the word out. Most of them are pretty happy to promote local writers and projects. Together we can conquer both sides of the Puget Sound.
If anyone else is interested in assisting with the Tumblr blog, please let me know. I'd like to have one or two more people to help with the blog, as I've been doing a terrible job keeping it up to date as of late. You just have to have a Tumblr account and I can add you. Paruse the web for things relating to mental illness: news stories, pictures, quotes, story excerpts, songs. My ONLY requirement is that if you post a blurb to go along with the post that you be eloquent and use proper grammar.
Post 800. Just had to do that.
Bek, how do you like COW so far?
You guys are all doing marvelously. Damn proud.
@Danny: I like the way you are thinking my man.
