Dark House Press is thrilled to announce that we are going to be publishing a short story collection by Rebecca Jones-Howe in 2015. The collection, entitled VILE MEN, is dark, seductive, powerful, touching and told with a voice that lulls you into submission with elegant, enlightened prose. Rebecca has had work published, or is forthcoming, in PANK, Punchnel's, Pantheon Magazine, Out of the Gutter Online, Pulp Modern, and Pulp Metal Magazine as well as both of our anthologies, The New Black and Exigencies. She was also the winner of the 2012 WAR writing competition at LitReactor. Welcome her to the family—she’s an emerging voice that you’ll be hearing a lot from in the near future.

I have another article out. This one is over at Sound Convictions, a music site I recently started writing for. The article is titled LILY ALLEN HAS A BAGGY PUSSY and it's probably not what you think it is - I'm writing a series that should last (about) 10 weeks on women in music that aren't the typical pop princesses. Anyway, it's short and fun and has a couple videos you can watch if you're up for it. Check it out and let me know what you think! Next week's article will feature a female rapper I've been following recently.

God, I hate autotune when used as an effect. In Lily's case it was satire, though. Can't say I cared for the song, but the lyrics were funny and certainly poignant. And good for you, Renee, getting another column! It's hard out here for a bitch. And for pimps, to a lesser extent.

Congrats on those publications! I dig Menacing Hedge very much, and will read soon. Speaking of the Hedge, a year or so ago, their fiction editor Craig Wallwork recorded himself reading one of his stories that ended up in that Hank Bukowski drunks anthology. He sent it my way, I cleaned it up a bit and scored it with some sleazy organ improvisations (errrr, you know what I mean …). That story is now live on SoundCloud.
In another coincidence—must be Bukowski media day or something—the other night after a few drinks, Caleb J Ross talked me into participating in a dirty little Bukowski game for his YouTube channel. It's funny and gross.
