Hallo all you lovely Litreactor people,

I write words. Coincidentally this also means that I’m quite in like with words, big like, more like love really. I love clunky words. Words that hit your tongue on the way out, words that rattle and snag, and words that punch their way out of you.

Words that burst all bright and high. That land all awkward because you’re not supposed to say them. Words that holler, words that hiss, kiss, slither and boom. All of them I love to twist, mix and mould till they fit, till they make you, I and everyone else feel.

I love them all, from the ones that I trip over to the ones that slide out all clean and neat.

Other things I have big love for are 60's and 70's glam and psychedelic rock (T.Rex, David Bowie, Donovan(which is technically acid folk), The Doors, ...), gritty blues, word smiths Nick Cave and Tom Waits, Most things that Jack White makes, Queens of The motherfuckin' Stone Age and most of their associated acts, weird and wonderful Björk, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys (although I think I should've placed this with word smiths because Alex Turner knows his way around them as well.), Jeff Buckley, Jesca Hoop, John Fahey, ...

I'm from Belgium, Antwerp to be more specific, which means that I've also got a heart on for Belgian rock. dEUS, Evil Superstars, Zita Swoon, DAAU, Flying Horseman, Kapitan Korsakov, La Femme Belge, Soulwax and Kobalt.

Not all of these bands are still together, some of them brought out their best (in my opinion) in the 90's and  I'm not a fan of all of their work whether it be new or old.

Being from Belgium also means that my first language isn't english, it's dutch (flemish) and the most hours I had english for was 3 and none of those were in college.

I love Alan Watts A.K.A. my gateway into Taoism. Another person I don't mind listening to for great lengths of time is Neil Degrasse Tyson.

I don't have a favourite book or genre and I'll read most things that are written in an interesting voice. My favourite writer is Neil Gaiman and if I have to chose a favourite amongst his work, it's a short story by the name of 'Goliath'

I also express myself visually, mostly through illustration. Most of it you can see on my tumblr, with whatever else I'm interested in.

Was this too long, I get enthusiastic when given the opportunity to share my interests. So if you want to talk words with me, exchange music or share stuff feel free to.

Jules

Welcome to the LitReactor, Julie! Oh my the fun you'll have, the things you'll read, the people you'll get to stalk and kill share you words with!

Your enthiusiam for all the best things in life (music and words and art) is a dazzling example of why you're my all-time favorite Belgian.

I have no belief in anything, but Alan Watts has a great voice for ASMR.

Hi, thanks for welcoming me. I've been on the site for 2 months and I'm completely smitten with it. Now that I'm delving in to the classes I'm even more head over heels.
