Okay, been considering these all day.
What was the prompt? I guess for starters I will see who handled the prompt the best.
On that note, that is going to be interesting in WAR. Are the voters going to be aware of the prompts so they can take into consideration how well the stories were created from them?
This was the prompt:
SHE DWELT AMONG THE UNTRODDEN WAYS"
SHE dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove,
A Maid whom there were none to praise
And very few to love:
A violet by a mossy stone
Half hidden from the eye!
--Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky.
She lived unknown, and few could know
When Lucy ceased to be;
But she is in her grave, and, oh,
The difference to me!
In the end, that is not helping me decide. But I like it. Great idea for a prompt.
I think with this one there is a very personal element that Rian's story addresses that speaks to me. I am lucky not to be that protagonist. I suppose that is the difference here this time.
I wonder how many of the War bouts are going to be this difficult. I hope they all are, actually.
Thank you Chester. I appreciate your vote, but more than that, I appreciate what you saw in the personal element. Avery's prompt really made me step out of my comfort zone. It was a hard story to write, even though most of it isn't true. But, the feelings behind it are. I can say, without reservation, that I am that protagonist... or was, that protagonist.
Thanks again, bud.
~Rian
