Yeah, so... I'm new. I just created this account, hoping to stay connected to some sort of writerly society, since all I really do is write in isolation.

I don't know whether a lot of people post here often, in this forum, or if there're other categories that're more active. I don't know much about this site; any tips or info you might provide would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy! Definitely check out the top thread, the introduction to LitReactor. That's a great starting point.

My best advice is to not be shy about posting threads or replying to other threads. And also, if you post writer-ly stuff, there will be a lot of different opinions and ideas, so just take a deep breath and remember that just because so-and-so does it one way, that doesn't mean another way is wrong.

Thank you helpfulsnowman, and howdy. I'll certainly follow your advice here. Going to check out the Introduction to Lit Reactor and perhaps post a thread later.

Thanks!

It may also be worth looking into the Writer's Workshop. There is a small monthly fee but it basically just weeds out those who aren't really interested in growing their craft. I've been a part of a few workshops and they have been a huge part of my development!

Hello! I'm new to this forum and to LitReactor! A little nervous as I'm definitely a senior citizen but so very young at heart. Aging is tough...your body tells you you're not as young as your brain thinks you are. But it's better than the alternative!

Presently trying to make myself write the first draft of my first book. It's nonfiction and a story I've lived, so it's difficult to relive those moments. I'm looking for advice and suggestions from fellow writers to help me stay on the straight and narrow!

Hi, CNRobin62. Welcome to LitReactor. I hope you enjoy yourself. Gail here. I hang out mostly in the Writers Workshop. I also have spent a lot of time in the essays on writing, which are available here...so many, and so good. I highly recommend checking them out. Peruse the workshop... You can post  and comment on the work of others there.  It is powerful, and humbling and never boring. Nice to meet you. gsr

Hey smithreynolds! Thank you so much for your suggestions of the "essays on writing" and perusing the workshop! Great help to start out with familiarizing myself with LitReactor! Very nice to meet you, also! cnr

Hello again,

I've been out of the loop for the past month - too many health issues distracted me from writing. However, I'm baaaaccckkk and want to start writing and revising my first book! Plan to join LitReactor when I get paid this week. Looking forward to starting a workshop, too!

I'm looking for friends - 55+ who started writing later in life. If you are interested or if there is a group out there, would someone let me know? I've looked but couldn't find one.

Thanks and Happy Mother's Day to Moms out there!

Carolyn

hoi hoi.

Welcome.

I'm in the process of restarting some version of the book club, so swing by my thread "book club, again" and maybe pick one of those books I listed, or suggest another one for consideration (or later use), and make yourself at home
