a void of creativity
Is that a space devoid of creativity or an empty space wherein things may be created?

The poor albino peacock doesn't so much strut as drag his plumage around the outskirts of the community. Even though all the other peacocks are the same (which he finds very boring,) it turns out peahens actually like it that way.

The reason I say this is because of The Great Gatsby. It's that kind of day I guess. Daisy ( a white flower) is always talking about white things. She describes her childhood as being 'white'. But in this instance it doesn't mean innocence. It means devoid of true deep feeling. She is an emotional void.

Color is interesting. I learned about light reflection before I learned that certain colors were symbolic of this or that. That knowledge has always informed my analysis of color, especially white and black. Apart from that I think I view symbolic color more through associations with actual things of this or that color rather than emotions or abstract concepts. Blood is red, the sky is blue, plants are green, etc. Those objects all have a resonance which can be drawn upon. I suppose some people write this or that color with the hope that the reader already knows what may be traditionally symbolized by the color choice. I've probably missed many writers' intentions.
But, from what you wrote, it sounds like Fitz establishes the theme pretty well instead of just calling something white and hoping that means something.

Yeah. He uses color a lot. Some of them are hard to catch, but the white stuff isn't for Daisy. I mean, it stands out when someone says, "our white girlhood was passed there", you sort of wonder about it. Also I think she drives a white car. And wears white clothes. But I might be off on that one.
