I remember being really excited when Lit Reactor was first created. I was completely impressed by a site that essentially grew from the community behind the Chuck Palahniuk website and the writers and content producers that participated.

But I always wonder if the growth plateaued or stagnated. Should Lit Reactor be more transparent about the numbers and would that make the community that loves the site more proactive in reaching for new members and new readers?

Should there be more items in the store or a way for the community to create their own items and promote the site?

This is just my curiosity, and obviously, I haven't been as active of a community member as I would have liked to have been. I am beginning to make time for my fiction and other writing, and will soon be ready to roll up my sleep and participate- even if that just means sharing more of Lit Reactor and its writers on social media and buying their books.

Thoughts?

I don't think Litreactor bears the burden of revealing it's numbers to its members. And even if they did what would be gained by the day to day user. I used to be much more involved then I left and then I came back again.  It might just be stagnation. I keep waiting for a new event to pop up like the Scare us or Arrest us challenges but I don't know if there will be more. I think we're experiencing a slow heat death.

I can't say a lot but we will be announcing a really cool event shortly. It's taken us a lot longer to put something together than we had hoped but we also wanted to do it right. We're ironing out the details now and once it's all together I think everyone is going to be very excited.

I'm new here.

Number one, I'm taking a really cool class that I couldn't have touched anywhere else I've searched all winter and spring. So, I am pretty jacked about this site.

Number two: I am enjoying reading and commenting on all new kinds of genres some of which are WAY out of my wheelhouse, but it is the energy and intent that is the key, and there is some really great energy here. I Don't always resonate with all of it, but at least I'm resonating and that's a lot better than standing alone. Feels pretty good here. I'm appreciating the chance to jostle around with everyone.

Also, people here are learning how to talk to each other about their writing, and to allow their writing to be scrutinized. IT takes courage and humility to do both, I think, if you want to do it right. And if Kirk, who has already in my brief tenure here, helped me at least three times, says that there is something cool in the works, then I for one am going to stick around and find out what it is.

A feature that might make members more active and involved would be automatic email updates when columns we've been active on are commented upon. I'm active on other writing sites and some of them do this, sending an email when someone responds to a post you were active on. This often gets me to go and get involved. With LR I have to go to the site and go search to see if I got a response. For instance, I put out a Thunderdome challenge, but to see if anyone has replied I have to go to the site and check that post.

And if any of you respond to this post here, I will have to actively go search it to find out, whereas if I had an email update, I would know instantly.
