Got it for Christmas. Got loads for Christmas. Nur nur. Got the new Dexter book for Christmas. He's turned into a passive little bitch. Got Slaughterhouse-5 for Christmas. Read the shit out of it. (So it goes.)
Kiss me, Judas--after flicking through a few pages, I'm excited about it. One complaint and I haven't started: strange sized book. Will not be sitting on my shelf in the correct way, towering over my other paperbacks like an angry daddy.
I was reading a review of Dermaphoria and someone mentioned this so I went out of my way to get it because I'm a big fan of Derma. Any fans? What are the other two like? Should I read all three? Maybe I should see if i like this first, eh? I know. Got my morning giddy after a strong coffee. Sorry.
Thanks.
It's an opinion divider.
Lots of people love it, and herald it as the epitome of Neo-Noir. Others, (here's looking at you, Phil,) will tell you otherwise.
I enjoyed the series. If you get into it then the story will fly by and you'll be hunting down the sequels.
The UK paperback is an odd size though, I know what you are saying there. I have a signed US first edition though that was bought for me as a present last year. That rocks.
I remember the first time I read Kiss Me, Judas. Dennis had contacted me about helping to get a site together for this cool cat named Will Christopher Baer. I said "sure" because I liked making websites.
Then, Baer sent me a copy of it and Penny Dreadful.
I think I read those 2 books before making any additional progress on the website. Thankfully, I read both in just a few days so I didn't waste too much time. But I loved Baer's style and the books rocked. Exactly what I was looking for. So it turned out that I was not making a website for a guy who I really like, not just a random dude who needed some work done.
I wish he would get that new book out...
Around that time, I scored the Xbox Live name Phineas Poe, and still use it to this day.
Sounds like his novels actually. I respect the man for that. Actually I think I heard this conversation before over at (The Velvet perhaps?) and he has a baby so he is probably busy with that. Or he could be writing another novel, who knows, it could just be taking a really, really, long time.
I have not yet read Will Christopher Baer. I've read the first few pages of Kiss Me, Judas and couldn't get into his fragmented imagery and use of similes in some sort of esoteric parody. I think I could like him, and I respect the people that laud his work. I would have to get used to his style though to read his stories, and getting used to writing isn't a high priority for me. The premises of his books are all interesting.
