Just finished Hyperion, which I've wanted to read for ages and it was great. The interesting thing is that, considering it's a sci-fi book, it has done more to make me understand and "get" poetry than any other thing I've read on the topic. Good stuff.
Moved onto The Age of Wonder: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the Beauty and Terror of Science now which is pretty well-written so far. Not too dry and is already touching on some cool stuff.

David Buglass, how much fun can Clarke be! But you're right... dated as all heck. Which charms me when I'm in the mood.
Right now on the first few pages of Last King of Scotland.

Andrez, yeah elements feel very dated, but Asimov felt way more dated. Still fun, like watching a movie from the 50's and trying to ignore the sexism and racism. Not that there is any overt racism or sexism in either. Just out of date.
