My name is Jeremy Bustin, and I am a young writer...okay I don't know how much longer I can say that--I'm 30 years old now.
By day I'm a Public Relations Representative for the largest shipbuilder in the world--Newport News Shipbuilding. I spend time in my office writing speeches for executives and the president at the shipyard, as well as employee publications and copy for advertisements.
Having just completed my master's degree at GWU, I am ready to embark on the novel I have had in my head for five years. It's a psychological thrill-ride with a bit of dramatic-irony. The novel uses color as a literary device--the psychological moods associated with different colors.
I found this site through Chuck Palahniuk's page, and am excited to be here.
It has been a while since I actively participated on forums, so please forgive anything that contravenes any conventions or rules set on this forum.
Another avocation of mine is acting. I'm currently rehearsing for two musicals--1776 and Follies
My favorite writing tool is Scrivener, and I could never go back to using Word or Pages.
Welcome ! Dave, or Davery or Averydoll should be along. No can say for sure, but you'll get a neat meme!
In the meantime, read this. LINK
Thanks for the warm welcome. I see you are in Richmond. I live near Williamsburg, but have many friends in Richmond. I'm up there a few times a week.
Hello. I represent Davery as the (Un)Official LitReactor Welcome Committee. Her memes are my memes. So here's our welcome meme
Hi, I for one am not Jeremy Bustin. I'm one of the resident "kids" here. Swing by if you wanna reminisce about your high school years or something like that.
Jeremy, yeah, well, it's Henrico, and I am not official there until the end of next month, but if you're around, hit me up, we'll grab a beer, talk writing ect ect
My cousin used to work at Newport News. I'm a bad family member, because I can't remember if he still does.
Hi Jeremy. You have much to learn from us, we are all amazing writers with incredible talent lol
Seriously though, I am.
Welcome, back massages for all new members at my place.
BYOO. (Bring your own oils)
Salutations fellow traveler.
Thank you everyone for the warm greetings! I'm excited to be here. I love to read the work of other people, and I love to provide critical feedback.
Feel free to share nude photos! Email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will hook you up with hot chicks!
By 'hot chicks' do you mean a invite to a bear cave? Because that sounds like you.
I think he means Uncle Danny's touchy room.
Shhhhh! I mean bodacious babes with big bazoongas!
Welcome, fellow writer/actor! I love how lots of people do both.
Oh that's a bear cave for sure.
Do you mean man cave?
I meant bear cave.
I like bears!
Welcome, Jeremy! Newport News always makes me think of the Looney Tunes special where Bugs Bunny is stranded in Transylvania and stays at the vampire's castle. Probably because I've only ever heard of Newport News in that episode and I've seen it at least a dozen times.
Good luck with your novel, Jeremy!
Hey Jeremy, grrrrr!
I can't do it while at work since youtube is blocked, but someone needs to post the video for the Bear Force One medley stat.
And welcome Jeremy, the quality of the feedback you get here is amazing and I'm sure will be helpful. look forward to reading some of your work.
Hi Jeremy. Welcome.
And thanks for turning me on to Scrivener. I'd never heard of it before and just now looked it up. Wow, that software looks helpful. I've paper notes all over the place. And different Word documents for my outlines and notes and such.
Welcome to the pit.
Yes Scrivener is amazing. However, I still have my old school tools like a white dry erase board above my writing desk.
Thank you everyone for the many warm welcomes.
Hey Jeremy, I was going to say "Welcome to the Lit" too, but I think you got here before me? Cool, I just turned 30. Wait...I have 38 more minutes before I actually turn 30.
@Jermey - If it was old school it'd be chaulk.
Happy Birthday, Verbose Lobster.
