Hello, everyone!
I just joined a few mintues ago, and from a basic click-through, this place seems pretty wicked. I've never joined a group like this before, but I'm very passionate about writing, so I hope that I'm able to stick with this! I look forward to gaining some intel on the craft from insightful and experienced writers, as well as to sharing anything I can bring to the table that might help out a fellow writer in need. I've been trying to write on my own for a while now, and I've hit a wall, so I'm looking for a place to find some inspiration and direction, and sort out the mess of ideas in my head. Hope this is it!
Thanks for reading!
Erica
Welcome LoveBird! You found the right site. Litreactor rocks - the magazine stuff and the workshopping. If you love reading and writing then you can't lose. The single most benefitial thing I have done for my writing skills has been to get into a workshop environment.
What sort of stuff do you write?
Make sure you read the craft essays. Take notes while you do so. In most reviews you'll hear the jargon used in those essays such as "Thought" verbs, "On the body", and "head" and "heart" authority.
Those essays are easily worth the price of a year of membership. All of the columns about writing have been great additions to the essays (and should be grouped with them [I think]).
