Hi - I got side-tracked. Work, family stuff with Dad dying. Work. I haven't been dedicated to writing in over a month. We have to write all the time to get some good stuff to come out of the mix. I'm watching and hording stuff, but haven't been writing it down. Anybody else? I'm in NY wiht a great inspirational conference with editors, etc, but if i don't write I won't be a writer. Anybody else feel this way? We hvare got to get to the writing! Write every day! Yes? It's the very basic thing we need to do. The basics can help us.
I'm on the same boat as you! It always comes as a relief when I hear about people struggling with writing. If my writing experience were made into a rollercoaster, it would be one VERY LONG ROLLERCOASTER INDEED!
I started writing when I lived in NY. I had a great idea, and I wrote a good primer from the story, but I made sure I didn't search out any type of outlet to have much of it reviewed. It was all talk, and mostly a good conversation starter (I never did well with questions like, "How many pages have you written?") Then I shut-up, and just worked on whatever writing I needed for school. Now I live in Austin, TX. I had a stroke that prevented me from doing anything for a while. Even when I could do something, I didn't. Now that it's been almost 4 years since the fateful event.
The story hasn't left, it keeps evolving so my lazy ass can't be so lazy anymore. There are 1,000 reasons why I should work on stuff, but only the one reason of not doing anything on most days seems to win out. I'm acting like a 36 year old 6 year old! But I've been trying to change that.
Where in NY are you?
