i had to set my browser to over ride the font defaulted by sites because some of the text on this site appears... i dunno if i would say blurry or smashed together, kinda. especially the titles of threads. has anyone else ran into this?
What browser and OS are you using?
If you can send me a screenshot it would be helpful.
Thanks for posting this Charles, I don't currently have a Ubuntu dev machine. It looks like it has to do with how Ubuntu smooths screen fonts. I'll do some research and see what I can do to make it better. I'll probably hit you up via PM to do a test or two for me.
I use firefox on winxp, and I have a problem reading the titles as well. It could be old age and an isolated outbreak of mass hysteria, though.
Well, it's a combination of things. Part of it is clearly font smoothing on your OS. Another part is that we are using webfont there. The final part is the sizing.
Attached is how it looks across various Windows and Mac browsers. You can see that your image is clearly a lot different and that is mainly due to font-smoothing from what I see. Making some adjustments to the size might allow me to hit a sweet spot though where it suddenly looks better on your computer. (You'll notice that the "All Discussions" above the discussion titles doesn't suffer from this.)
I'll fiddle with it a little and I will probably put together a test with a few different sizes and see which works best. I'll be in touch.
Either way, the issue is identified and now I just have to decide how I want to fix it.
