As you can guess from my profile, my name is Gary. I orginally signed up for LitReactor a month or so ago so that I could read through the craft essays. I enjoy reading about writing. And after reading through many of the essays, I started lurking around the forum and glancing through the online workshop. Then I read one of the stories in the workshop a couple of days ago and then reviewed a couple. Responded to some forum topics. So figured it was time for a formal greeting.

Hi.

I've been writing for a number of years (don't ask how many). I write genre: sci fi/fantasy/horror/mystery. I've tried mainstream, but never felt comfortable with it. I'm currently working on a mystery short story set in Paris (I love Paris).

I'm unpublished.

I believe my biggest "opportunity for improvement" with my writing is in the storytelling. I think I'm a decent writer and have the mechanics down, but I'm still trying to figure out how to tell a compelling story with a satisfying ending.

I'm eating peanut butter M&Ms right now.

Cheers.

P.S.

Which PUBLICITY setting am I supposed to choose? I'll select Public right now.

Gary!

Davery will be along shortly to give you the only welcome you'll really need here.  Until then, allow me to extend their hand in friendship.  I'd extend mine, but I'm typing.

Hello GaryP. Sounds like you are indeed in the right place. Except, leave the peanuts out of chocolate please. Peanuts grow under the devils toe-nails.

I feel like I was avoiding this yesterday, because I was.  I apologize.  Welcome.  Because you waited so patiently and were very polite about the whole thing, you get this:

Thanks, everybody. And thanks, Avery. I finally feel accepted. As Sam Clemens once said: All good things arrive unto them that wait--and don't die in the meantime.

Oh, you guys are still here. Oh, no. No, problem. Thanks for coming. It was great seeing ... no, I'm pretty sure I'm outta beer. Anyway, like I was ... what? I don't think I have today's paper. You know, there's a 7-11 like three blocks away, I bet they have ... no, I don't have yesterday's paper, either. You know what? I'm just going to close this door. You're welcome to hang out on the porch if you want, but I really gotta get to bed. Early morning and ... oh, nothing special, just have to get up and ... I'm closing the door now.

You know, I can hear you through the door. I'm not an asshole.

That's it, I'm calling the cops.

HAHAHAHA!

I wish that worked in life.  Random person walks up, "Hi, I'm the cops."

Oh, okay.  Seems legit.

I have a badge.  I am not random.  And I do not submerge my "I".

I am the cops.
