This lovely article brought back a few memories - I did costumes for my kids for World Book Day a couple of times.

We did something like this once when I was in elementary school, I think I went as Nancy Drew... But this article makes me think it is a much bigger deal on your side of the pond. I wonder if the HusBang ever did this...

Once I had this when I was in second grade.  To be different, my grandmother insisted I dress as Laura Ingles from Little House on the Prairie .  I even had a bonnet. 

I hated life.

I would have hated a bonnet too @averydoll. But perhaps less than Nancy's hair.

How does Randall Flagg dress @Utah? King is always coy about stuff like that.

Nonsense.  He was pretty overt with Flagg.  Denim jacket.  Denim...jeans.  Boots.

Didn't say whether he went commando.  We can only speculate.

Cath-- I just wore an outfit from the cover of one of the books. I wasn't actually a big Nancy Drew fan, but I did like The Hardy Boys, and I didn't want to dress as a boy, haha.

My old band would dress up as different things for our shows. This was the only one that was literary-themed, but a great one.

 

This was from a thread a while ago... even before this site existed, I think...

But obviously that's Siamese Vodka, and I'm dressed up as Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat.

I used to dress up more... but I'm saving up for next halloween because I'm dressing up as The Corinthian from The Sandman and the sclera contacts for that are a little pricy.

Also makes an excellent William Burroughs costume. Just add a couple of giant centipedes...

My girlfriend is a teaching assistant, so she made herself a Mole costume from 'The Wind in the Willows'.  Although some kids try to go as various footballers on the grounds that they have an autobiography out.  I think this is cheating, but what do I know?
