hi all
is writing dialog in spec script and novels the same I know that in spec script the dialog is going to be heard not read as in novels it will be read not heard so is it the same or different if different how? and is the dialog more fragmented to read right?
thanks

Dialog is dialog in my opinion. If it doesn't read as well out lout as it does on the page, it's failing in its job. Your spec script should be of the same quality that your finished project is going to be at.
My advice is to write all your dialog and then read through it outloud with a couple of friends. Listen to how it sounds. Is it natural? Does it sound like you've over heard a conversation with the characters?
The big difference is that in screenwriting, your entire story has to be built into the action and dialogue. In a book, your characters can think one thing and say another entirely. All dialogue should sound natural, but there are things you can get away with in each medium better than others. Screenplays tend to handle characters interrupting each other better than books do, but rely more on subtext.
Either way, like McKay said, it has to sound real in both cases, otherwise you aren't doing it well.
Yeah, McKay got it. Act it out. It's the best way to see if it's working.
If you can't act it out get a digital recorder and record yourself. You'll be amazed at what you'll find.
You have to remembe that sounding real is very different then how things really sound.
