I was thinking the other day that this site is missing something and I just couldn't put my finger on it...then it hit me, like toothpick under big toenail. What if there is a book you really want but can't get it due to the internet's "bend-over prices" or its not going for another print run. We got threads for politics, alcohol, music, and sexting but no book sell/trade thread. (that I've seen yet)
For example, you got the first edition of King's IT that you dont care for and maybe you're trying to sell or trade it. SO you post it on this thread and if someone is interested they pm your profile or reply to your post here. And for selling, this isn't amazon so lets keep the prices reseasonable.
What do you guys think?
How about an ebook trade thread? You can lend kindle books to any other Amazon accts (I think, I'm not 100% on that). I have some decent Kindle books, and other people do too.
The one caveat is that if you borrow a book and like it, support the author and buy something from them! The vital parts of the discovery process/file-sharing lifecycle are the after-effects: you borrow/download materiel from a producer, enjoy it, pass it on (via files and/or shared opinion/review/recommendation), but then, if you consumed it for free, as a thank you, you should support said producer with money. I have a great many opinions/feelings/thoughts on the subject that I will blather on about for-fucking-ever, but I will save you all the pain.
tl;dr: let's share kndle books, but make sure and support the author.
I think it's a great idea - Kirk and I just did a deal where I bought his collection of Sandman trades. He gave me a very fair LitReactor price so they went to a good home. Easy enough - he sent me a paypal request, I paid the man, he'll send me the books. Pretty sweet.
It'd be nice to have a forum devoted to books for sale, trade or giveaway. Even contests or trivia or the such to just award a member a book for the hell of it. With paypal, it's super easy to buy. If you wanted to give it away, you could just ask them to cover shipping. Or pay for shipping out of the goodness of your heart. Maybe after you're done reading pass it on to the next person.
Anyone interested in buying an ultra rare signed copy of Mark Z. Danielewski's The Fifty Year Sword? I just listed my copy at eBay. The Buy It Now price is quite a bit less than any other price I've seen for it.
Please, share this with anyone you think may be interested. I have some bills I need to pay.

Hmmm well if you guys have a nice rare or first edition of anything, I have a first edition of Razor's Edge I'd be willing to trade.
SparrowStark, any of those are fine. I'd have to look around to see what I could trade for though. A few King novels wouldn't really be a fair trade for a first edition.
Hey, how would the other Kentucky users (others who are near by are welcome) feel about a book exchange meet up? Maybe Louisville since I know a few of us live there/close and I go by once in a while. Take what you don't want, everyone picks what they like kind of thing. Could resevere a table at resturant or such.
