I just started The Troop last night. So good. Gross, scary. Really nice stuff.

Anyone else reading him?

I haven't read The Troop but I have read The Deep and Little Heaven. I thought The Deep was just...okay, at best, and I really fucking hated Little Heaven. Here's my review of it.

I want to love him but I just can't. I don't know.

Damn. I hope The Troop stays stronger. So far I'm liking it, but maybe some of the premise (limited number of characters and timeline) will keep it tighter. But you're right on about getting too much character biography here and there. That's still poking through here and there.

Also, describing horse penises. That made me laugh my ass off. It's like an old novel where they describe every stick of furniture. Except lots weirder.

Nick Cutter was not on my radar, but looked him up from this thread and surprised to see he's Craig Davidson of Rust and Bone fame. I read Rust and Bone years ago, and while I didn't love it, it was really impressive in spots. Might have to give The Troop a read.

I liked THE TROOP, loved THE DEEP. LITTLE HEAVEN was ok-ish, for me.THE DEEP wa so good I named the protag in my latest WIP 'nick cutter'. That will most certainly change, but still.

I'd keep it just to see if you can get sued by a pseudonym.
