I miss the days of WAR and TELEPORT US. I only feel motivated to write when I'm up against competition, and I've got the itch to come up with something. Is another round of WAR coming up, by chance, or another grand LR challenge? I'm bracing myself and hoping SCARE US 2 is in the pipe.
So, to sum up: any organized competition going on anywhere? Please?
Beyond Thunderdome is always open.
I think, THINK I heard WAR was supposed to begin in the winter or autumn.
No plans yet, that I'm aware of.
you could try the Clive Barker MIDIAN contest. i'm reading CABAL right now.

Avery's got a bunch of plans for all of you. She's just not telling you yet. For your sakes I hope she's not waiting for me to start posting a bunch of cryptic posts in all CAPS AND BOLD ITALICS as foreshadowing for her awesome executions...I mean, plans.
here's two:
Unlikely Story - has to include bugs http://www.unlikely-story.com/ (Sept 1)
Willow Wolf Journal - macabre symphony http://www.wolfwillowjournal.com/ (Sept 1)
i just sent them both something
Tom,
You have 48 hours to write something awesome, or something bad is going to happen to someone you don't know and will never meet.
That's not very nice.
Here you go, Tom. This one just popped up and I plan to send something. 1,000 words flash with a theme.
Forgot to mention there is a $5 fee, but it goes towards money prizes, and to pay the guest judge, Stephen Graham Jones.
Ooh, nice one, Dino. I'll have to send something there, too. Well. First I'll have to write it.
Cease, Cows better get ready because they're about to receive a Litreactor avalanche!
Sarah: I still have to write mine too. Actually, I have to come up with one first!
Oh yeah, I'm game for that.
Thanks Dino :)
Cease, Cows is ready for the deluge! We were hoping for it. :)
The journal that published me last year, which won me some money and got me back into writing short fiction, is holding a fundraiser for a contest and anthology they want to do. Their aim is to able to raise the money to able to pay for all this without having to charge writers to submit, but if they don't reach their goals, they may have to charge. I'm not asking you to donate anything (though that's always nice:)), but check it out. I have a couple of flashes on there ("VIsitation Rights" and "Remains") if you're interested in seeing the type of work they're looking for. They definitely have a literary slant. Though they haven't stated yet when the contest starts, I certainly plan to submit. This is just to whet your appetite:)
